Leave the Christmas parade alone.  Certainly if you change the name perhaps more folks might feel part of it.  But for G-d's sake it's a Christmas parade.  If Christmas is your thing, than celebrate it.

1. why and when was it changed, after decades, in the first place?
2. who's idea was it to change the name?
3. why were there more in attendance when it was the Christmas parade scheduled on the day after Thanksgiving?

Motives? Reasons?

This is not a failure of "interfaith" work.  This is a failure of folks to understand the work of interfaith.  Nobody should change the name of the parade.  It is the Christmas parade.  It is the kick-off to the holiday shopping season.  It is not a religious parade.  It is a secular Christmas parade.  There were more in attendance because the day before is Thanksgiving a holiday that EVERYONE celebrates.  Black Friday kicks of the season for merchants.  More people are around that weekend ie a larger attendance.

If the change is to be PC then they are quite foolish.  You don't have to be Christian to enjoy the damn parade.  It's firetrucks, ambulances, a bunch of folks in storybook costumes and the fat man at the end.  It's innocuous.  Anyone whose sensibilities are offended JUST DOESN'T GET IT!!!!!!!!!!   Leave it alone.

BINGO!!!!!! shop away....cha-ching!!!! IF you can get credit or the cash to buy the crap......
It seems to be Pavlov's dog at work here.......more folks are concerned about 'the timing'-----because hopefully
EVERYONE understands that their personal religious observances/rituals dont revolve around a secular parade......

BTW - I always thought that parade was stupid.  I hated and my kids hated me dragging them to it.   But some folks love a parade.

The name and date were changed last year by the horrible Chamber, Proctor's and the DEMS. The date was changed because of some idiotic conflict with Proctor's. Like NYC will change the Macy's parade if there's a show that day?

There were less people in attendance because of the date and name change. Many former residents/college students are back in town that day-it needs to go back to Black Friday permanently. People make plans around this and changing it looks foolish. BT should be cheered for putting this disgrace front and center in time to make it right for this Christmas season.

They should go back to the tradition of the parade on Black Friday.  That was a poor decision to change it.  It does amaze me what folks will do.  Nonsense.  People should make a fuss--a BIG FUSS.

I must have missed that action. Last winter we had some serious illness here and I guess we were preoccupied. Sorry to come late to that table.

And throw Karen Johnson {D-Proctor's} under the bus. MT is right-There were letters, posts, a huge outcry which was ignored by the MSM. Tradition! When something is running right and people anticipate the date don't mess with it. The Proctor's bomb should have been made a matinee.

This is a public street. Why hasn't the ACLU stopped this to ad to their other accomplishments: tearing down cross monuments to dead veterans and banning any mention of the Ten Commandments? Where are you ACLU?

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
