ROTTERDAM
Money rolls in for town races
Democrats now well-funded in attempts to unseat GOP

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter

Rotterdam Democrats have amassed an impressive war chest in their quest to regain seats on the all-Republican Town Board.
Since the start of the year, the committee dubbed Revitalize Rotterdam has raised $39,036 to support Democratic candidates in town races, according to filings submitted to the state Board of Elections Friday. The funding is in contrast to what the Democrats raised just two years ago.
“It is certainly impressive,” county Democratic Committee Chairman Brian Quail said Friday. “I don’t think we’ve seen a multicandidate committee supporting town races that has ever been this successful.”
The Rotterdam Republican Town Committee has raised $23,326. Committee Chairman Gerard Parisi said the GOP has generated a similar campaign fund — around $40,000 — because they started the year with a balance.
Almost all of the funding pumped into Revitalize Rotterdam was given over the course of three weeks in August. The committee began taking donations in July and has Brian Cechnicki, the former town of Root supervisor and a senior examiner for the state Division of Budget, as its treasurer.
Both Cechnicki or town committee Chairman Bill Cooke did not return calls for comment Friday.
The campaign filings suggest the funding is dedicated solely for supervisor candidate Frank Del Gallo, but Quail insisted the contributions would be spread across all of the town’s races. Democratic town board candidates Bob Godlewski and Matt Martin both have their own fund raising committees, according to state records. ...................>>>>>..................................>>>>>......................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01200&AppName=1

Some people are saying that contributions under $100 can be made over and over and over again by the same person. This could still be listed under 'un-itemized contributions.

So for example, someone could donate $1000, but in increments of $99 over a period of time. It would then never be an itemized contribution. And if it was a donation made in 'cash'....there wouldn't be a paper trail.  Does anyone know if this is true?

That page was taken right out of the Obama fund raising campaign.

I believe a candidate's treasurer is required to record when an individual/corporation donates over $100
regardless of whether it came at one time or over a series of times.

Another brilliant claim by Buchannan; it looks like a few wealthy people are donating large sums to finance
this campaign? This guy is amazing, $11,000 unitemized indicates hundreds of small donors and then
the list of $100 or more donors is large. It, of course, indicates the opposite; a large number of donors.
This guy continues to look like an a** every time he opens his mouth and the REPUB's like keeping him in the leadership role. The REPUB's say no one else wants it but it comes down to one thing; there is no one
in that party who is dedicated enough to take on a leadership role and bring back the party from the dead.
That is the real issue, IMO.

I wasn't referring to contributions OVER $100. The question that someone asked me, was..........and I'll try to make this easier......can someone (not corporate) donate $50 cash/check every week for, lets say 10 weeks, and still be categorized and grouped as 'un-itemized?

I'm glad you are trying to make it easier, now try reading my answer again and pay close attention to the
second part of it, your answer is RIGHT THERE K?? Once the donator hits $100 in an election cycle, the
treasurer is to report it. Whether it is one donation or 50 donations. Again, if a person makes ten $10 donations, they must report it when the total hits $100. Did you get it that time?
