OR when and if fdg gets elected.....we may just get majecka back! I wonder if surprise and parisi will survive a dem majority at the town hall?

Well Mr Bumble  it would seem to me that Mr Macejka tried his best to be fair to the taxpayer (as evidenced by the article in yesterday Gazette) and just did his job to the best of his ability.  What a pleasent thought that Mr Surprise and Mr Parisi will be exiting town hall if the Dems get control.  I never thought that could happen.      Are there others who should be dusting off their resumes???  I think sooooo!!!!!

PDQ,,,,do you think that this town is where it is based on the political parties?----I tend to think not.....it's just a
bunch of gumba gangstas and their own interests, never mind the future generations.....JMHO

In Schalmont, a budget was voted in for no raise in taxes, right?  Then explain to me how, with addition of additional value in town, my bill went up 4.7%.  Even with no new taxes, I'm getting taxed more.  We need not only the No New Tax Party, but we need cuts to be made also.

The increase in value in the new Pilot should have made a difference (but I think we were adversly affected by other PILOT's.)

If you are eligible for the STAR program, a portion of it has been cut by the state, not the town.

First thing the democrats did when they had the entire state government was cut STAR in the black of night and some people want to reward them for it (?? THAT makes no sense at all.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

MM the article said that the assessor made the decision to asses 10 acres of the 120 acres as residential and 110 acres as commercial and that's one reason for the big increase. The properties were always considered residential until the last assessment by Mr Surprise.

STAR is being cut and soon will
not exist. It is going to go slowly, but STAR is on its way out.

It's one thing for assessments to change...it's another to be treated downright rudely.  I keep hearing negative things about the demeanor of those in the Assessor's Office.  Just basic human decency...that's all we ask!

Tommasone should smarten up and dump Surprise.  At the very least, he should make a promise to the town to reform the office.  Time to gain back trust.

SCHENECTADY COUNTY
Countywide assessing idea resurfaces

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter
Reach Gazette reporter Justin Mason at 395-3113 or jmason@dailygazette.net

Outspoken Republican Legislator Joe Suhrada is proposing Schenectady County take a fresh look at establishing a single assessing unit to serve all its municipalities.
It is an idea a county tax official said has been found wanting in the past.
Suhrada suggested the county immediately explore the idea and consider putting it up for referendum. He said the constant friction that has resulted from reassessments and the cost associated with the revaluation process should be enough to compel the county to seek a more standardized process.
“Residents and small business owners have expressed to me frustration and irritation at the reassessments and the implementation of rules and regulations that affect them,” he said in a statement. “Furthermore, it is essential we have fair practices and practices that promote the best public policy objectives.”
Suhrada’s call for a referendum comes a week after a group of rural Rotterdam residents complained about a sudden jump in their school taxes due to changes in their property assessments. The residents, who live in the Schalmont Central School District, saw a spike in their taxes after their property values were nearly doubled by the town assessor last spring. .....................>>>>...............................>>>>.................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01001&AppName=1
