Region has 9,500 more unemployed compared to year ago

CAPITAL REGION — With an unemployment rate of 7.1 percent in July, the Albany-Schenectady-Troy area lost 10,500 nonfarm jobs since July 2008. The number of private sector jobs in the Capital Region fell by 9,400 or 2.7 percent.

Last July, the Capital Region’s unemployment rate was 5 percent.

-- There were 32,900 people unemployed in the Capital Region last month — 9,500 more than July 2008;

-- Albany County had 11,400 people without a job last month with an unemployment rate of 7 percent — up from 5.1 percent from last July;

-- Rensselaer County had 6,700 jobless with an unemployment rate of 7.8 percent — up from 5.3 percent;

-- Saratoga County had 7,600 jobless with an unemployment rate of 6.3 percent — up from 4.4 percent;

-- Schenectady County had 5,700 jobless, with an unemployment rate of 7.4 percent — up from 5.2 percent;

How's that job creating Metroplex working out for you. It's hard for Metroplex to lie about how many jobs they created when the statistics tell a different story.

Everything is beautiful under Democrat rule. Just ask them.

We are all still worrying about party lines instead of worrying about what's best?

Under all rule it's horrible... maybe when we can all co-exist for a great good things will improve..

Maybe i'll get a pet unicorn too.

Graham only sees elephants and donkeys.  Farley's folly, the Metroplex was hatched by Republicans to backdoor favors for party contributors.  I think it's funny how the Democrats turned the tables.  Now Galesi owns all of downtown for pennies on the dollar.  How much does Galesi donate to the Democrat Party?

Statistics don't matter, both party's will read this headline and believe it justifies them to ask for more Metroplex funding.  

The jobless certainly are not from the government sector are they?

thank goodness the Schenectady poet laureate isn't a paid position.

There are reps that have also benefited from the taxpayer's, aka plex, money.

I see liberal statists and moderates and conservatives. I always pick the least of the evils and prefer not to hand a larger chunk of my nation over to Bolsheviks if it can be avoided. I am practical like that in my old age. I have even voted for a few democrats wayyy wayyyy back, but have not found any that didn't bolster the socialist cause lately outside of only one I can think of. I do usually back the republicans because unlike many of you I realize that the American people will not fully embrace a third party alternative at this stage as they haven't given up hope that the Party of Reagan can reform itself. And neither have I, no matter how much hate I encounter with the group here.

But you read Newsweek and watch CNN so you figure it is all the Republicans fault all the time. Go figure.

But at least in my life, I have stepped up to the plate and done something and not just sat pimply faced on a blog making fun of those that have, Cicero. Try guts in the light of day and you will find newfound vigor in your life. If you hate all the Republicans, you owe it to yourself to go tell each one to his face, and not just scrawl notes behind teachers back in recess like when you were a teen at Mohon. But my money is on you staying under the comfortable dark rock you like to hide under.

I had to chuckle when I read this. When my kids were little, they too watched Sesame Street. I remember C is for Cookie. I, myself learned how to count in Spanish from that show.
I haven't seen it in years since my kids are all grown now with kids of their own. So now their kids watch it.

I'm glad George Washington didn't wait to be at the right "stage"  when convincing the colonials to revolt against the Brits.  Was colonial America at the right "stage" for the revolution, or did George Washington show leadership and fought like hell to do what was right.  Republicans sit back and wait for a "stage" before acting.  Those who worked hard to create the No New Tax Party ballot line showed LEADERSHIP and ACTION.  There are no leaders in the Republican Party. Not at the local level or national level.  

And since you're speaking more in depth again.  You still haven't gotten back to me about Surhada's feeling about his party boss(Parisi) also collecting a paycheck from the Town of Rotterdam.  Conflict of interest?

You ought to go to see Surhada yourself Mr. Braveheart.
