Anyone suggest a good place to find homes in Rotterdam not listed with the local realty agencies?  Still looking for a nice home here.

Let me just make a suggestion to go west.....the city is encroaching on the east.....AND NO ONE IS DOING A DAMN THING ABOUT IT

There are homes for sale everywhere in Rotterdam. Pickin's should be easy. But may I ask, 'why' rotterdam?

Well i work in schenectady, wife works in clifton park, and mother in law (babysitter) lives past cobleskill.. it's just our settled on area.. Schenectady county but not schenectady school district.

I find that it people are more content to let there homes sit then come down to what homes are worth right now..

And i'm picky, i want 3 br 1 bath living room kitchen dining room, and not falling apart.. lol

sounds like your wants can be found on the eastern side of town, lots of capes kind of east of Guilderland Ave, both sides of Curry Rd, then Coldbrook, some Highbridge, and those streets by Carmen Firehouse.

Only thing is the ones in Coldbrook don't have basements.  Not sure aobut all the other areas.  But capes are utually 3 bedrooms and 1 bath.  Some are very well kept and updated, others may be dated, like having paneling.

And the price range is wide in this selection too

The area between Curry and Helderberg has some nice houses available - all would match your wish list.  A 4br 2.5 bath near my mom just sold - asked $244 - accepted $145.  Ya. the market sucks for sellers right now.

There's my in-laws house on a corner lot in Highbridge, 3br (really 5, but not legally), 2 full baths, full basement, 1 car garage. New paint, floors, needs some kitchen updates, but both baths were just redone. It's gonna sell for a SONG very soon (think $120's)

Yeah those are all the areas i'm looking at. By the town hall i almost bought a house on lawndale, but we didn't go through with it due to too many things in the inspection.. too bad, lawndale is an awesome street..

well get there, i know pretty much every house on the market.. i'm looking now for the "others" that aren't on it.

I'm not sure, but isn't the area around town hall the area that floods a lot.  Drainage issues?  Other Rotterdam people can probably respond to that

You need to be looking into Saratoga County-especially if your wife works in Clifton Park. Yes, the prices are higher but you will pay much less in property taxes. You will thank me when you want to sell. Nobody wants to by a house in Schenectady County because the record COUNTY property taxes. These will go up again this year. If you don't like Shen schools Rexford and Alplaus are in the excellent Niskayuna School District.

floods around town hall is near the corner of Sunrise Blvd and Bernard St in that low area at the base of the hill coming off Curry Rd. The rest of the area is OK.

Much of the town floods, since much is built on swampy land with a high water table. That is just a fact. Hence one of the reasons the Coldbrook homes are on slabs.
