HI i am buying a house in Rotterdam the taxes w/o star are about 3k that's the lowest i've seen.. I"m factoring that into the "affordability" factor and buying a solid house with a lower cost..
How soon can i expect to be re-assessed? I called the town of rotterdam and they said "only if you build on" i don't buy that at all.

If you're serious about low taxes don't look in Schenectady County! Look in Saratoga County-even Albany County has lower County taxes. County property taxes go up every year and went up 10% last year under the DEMS. Before the new County Home "decision".
As far as re-assessment the town did it and won't do it again for a long spell. Do not post the address or you will get a surprise from accurately named Mr. Surprise.
