SCHENECTADY COUNTY, GENERAL ELECTRIC, AND
THE CHAMBER OF SCHENECTADY COUNTY PARTNER TO CREATE

“SCHENECTADY COUNTY: LIFE IN UPSTATE NEW YORK”,
A GUIDE TO LIVING AND WORKING IN SCHENECTADY COUNTY

(Schenectady, NY)  Schenectady County, The Chamber of Schenectady County, and General
Electric have partnered to create Schenectady County: Life in Upstate New York, a multi-media
guide to living and working in Schenectady County.  The guide was developed through this
unique public/private partnership to highlight all that Schenectady County has to offer to
individuals and families considering working and residing in Schenectady County.

The partnership was created immediately after the October 2007 announcement by GE that they
would be adding 500 new jobs at the company’s Schenectady plant and investing almost $40
million at the downtown location.

This guide is packaged with an interactive CD and is complimented by a website
http://www.discoverschenectady.com.  Inside each of these publications, readers will discover
Schenectady County, the birthplace of technology, home of innovation, and destination for those
who seek a quality of life unique to upstate New York.  Detailed information is provided in
sections titled Tech Valley, Business and Employment, Communities, Education, Arts &
Culture, Sports & Recreation, and Health & Family.

“I’m pleased that I was able to work with GE and state government to bring 500 new jobs and
more than $40 million in new investment to Schenectady County,” said Susan Savage, Chair of
the Schenectady County Legislature.  “In October 2007, I asked The Chamber of Schenectady
County and GE to partner with Schenectady County in an effort to show employees who would
be coming to the area all that Schenectady County has to offer.  We hope that those who choose
to work here will also choose to live and raise their families here.”

“The ability to attract and retain good talent is the backbone of all business,” said Jan Smith,
Manager Public Affairs at GE Energy.  “Our partnership with Schenectady County and The
Chamber produced an exciting package on the value of the entire area that can be used both
locally and world-wide to capture interest in making this community a new place to call home.”

“The Chamber is proud to partner with one of our largest and most longstanding business
members in GE and with Schenectady County,” said Angelo Mazzone, Chairman of The
Chamber of Schenectady County’s Board of Directors.  “This is a great example of how The
Chamber is able to bring Business and our community together to highlight all that Schenectady
County has to offer.”

They're the ones we need the Erie roundabout for ... so they can get out of downtown as quickly as possible
