I believe ACORN is providing a valuable service to the people of Schenectady, the local branch that is. As for the national organization, i cannot speak to that. It seems to be giving people hope, and that is a good thing. ACORN succeeds because people have lost faith in their elected officials.
And now you say 'what'?
Funny how you say that people have lost faith in their elected officials, when it is, in fact, their elected officials, that get voted in year after year, and are the ones that actually 'give' them their handouts. FREE!
ACORN on the other hand, does a 'street theater' thing and 'charges' people $12/month for their service.

You may want to rethink and re-rationalize this.

Activist group alive
Upstate director of ACORN says Schenectady chapter viable despite leadership gap

By LAUREN STANFORTH, Staff writer
First published in print: Monday, September 28, 2009

SCHENECTADY -- The city's ACORN chapter, the only one of its kind in New York state outside the New York City area, is still alive despite having no leader since August, members of the organization say.
Harold Miller, the community organization's upstate director, said Sunday the Schenectady chapter of the nonprofit advocacy group has been without a leader since organizer Chris Franklin departed more than a month ago. Miller said he will take over as chapter director by Oct. 5. Miller left the Capital Region temporarily to work on election campaigns in New York City. Franklin left his ACORN job to return to school, Miller said.
ACORN at one point claimed 200 members in Schenectady, but Miller said the leadership hiatus has likely led some members to depart. Miller believes the group, which collects fees and organizes people to lobby on local issues in neighborhoods and schools, will still be a force in local politics. Miller said ACORN, which stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, still rents its office space at 30 Jay St..................>>>..........>>>...........

I wonder why they picked Schenectady to start a chapter, could it be due to the high numbers of people on welfare in this area?

Because it is labeled 'urban' now.
Just better watch the WFP from now on in this area. I know that I will not take an WFP endorsement seriously....although I never did actually! I just always thought of it as an arm of the dems. IMHO

ACORN Question for Local Media: What in the World Are These People Really Doing?

By Tom Blumer
Created 2009-09-28 17:23

In a great NewsBusters post [0] early this morning, Rusty Weiss wondered how much local media coverage there has been of ACORN's suspension of services, and focused on potential vote fraud in Albany and Troy, New York.

Here's a question local reporters looking for an angle should be asking, even in the somewhat unlikely event they can't find anything corrupt or criminal at the ACORN office in their town: How effective is the organization's outreach?

Based on what little I've learned, a more legitimate question might be, "Is ACORN's so-called outreach really just a facade to conceal other not well-known activities it really considers more important"?................>>>>..................>>>>..................................http://ow.ly/15REU9

they did well for the Democrats in Troy. I wonder what they will be doing in Rotterdam!?

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

I think it is the 'edumacation' handed out with rolled up empty pieces of paper.......

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
