The reval should have been done years ago.....and it certainly does not benefit us the longer we wait......cumulative changes
will ALWAYS hit at a bad time eventually.......by the time I retire(ha ha ha ha ha ha,,,not according to Obama)I wont be able
to afford it here.....there is no way in hell to prepare for old age with $$

it was all pissed away in GE's haydays......stolen/pilferred/cheated etc etc......and now it resides in Florida, the Carolina's etc etc.....

we reap what we sow.......

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Well, considering that a huge number of country estates here and elsewhere have no sewer and water service, yet are still worth substantial money, I would say that the sewer and water issue for a residence in the country effects the value of the property only so much as the cost and difficulty in getting decent water and the cost of eliminating the septic wastes. It might cost someone thirty thousand dollars to achieve good results or it might cost one hundred thousand. Once it is built, it is generally rather low cost to operate private well and septic depending on the quality and hardness of the water supply. Many people prefer the well water considering they can treat it as they wish, or not treat it at all. Some is great without softening or UV, chlorine etc. Some is rotten egg juice!

Newer septic tanks last a long, long time. People in the cities rely on those services because of living density. Country life is country life, and usually includes wells and septic systems.

I don't think sewers are as relevant to residents as they are to the development of businesses. I'm afraid that Rotterdam is just beginning to look like a small city of schenectady. People have called the city of schenectady 'little NYC'. Well, I fear that Rotterdam is headed in the same direction.

Between all of these condo's, MFH and new homes popping up in little strips of land sandwiched between two other homes and the increase in crime....we got a hell of a good start.

Just a few years ago people suggested a moratorium on any new developments UNTIL a comp plan was updated and in place! Did that happen? NO!

It would be interesting to see what sparky's and the rest of the candidates take is on this?

The house that sold isn't half the house that Mr. Del Gallo owns. His is splendid and a true estate. Of course I live in a small ranch, around 1,000 feet. But looking is nice.

point taken but
considerable difference in acreage nearly 60  and number of out buildings
these two are in a whole different  world

but understand that if you build this big you invite criticism

consider this a 1000sq ft camp on 100x180 lake front selling at 250k
no cool pool or out buildings

a'll give you 100-200 k less than  the assessed price

Understood - but wouldn't that page be used for "comparables" in the real-estate market?
(Please enter the year to begin searching for comparables.)

Maybe Brad Littlefield can weigh in on comparisons as far as the market / assessments go.

yes  but  one might also look at nearby towns and citys via MLS
inquire selling vs asking and try to find a % avg
again realtors  have here finger on the pulse of value

this whole process sucks for those with large tracts of land

enough of this
if your running for this office you better run for the purpose of bettering our town
weather it is cleaning up the empty buildings
cleaning our streetscapes
proper tools for business

LOL  I get it you are all assessor's now.  Exactly the reason Fran and half the town is up in arms.  I have it from a reliable source that Steve et al through "gentle" persuassion has instructed Jon Craig what values should be on certain properties.  Check out the Tomassone house on Shardon while you bottom feeders are at it.  Yea thats right the Supervisor's brother house he bought for 585K.  While your at it didya know Mertz got a reduction this year also.  For what??

There is a tidal wave of discontent over the appointment of Jon Craig.  The reval is dead and buried.  The shananigans are alive and well and mark my words Steve's Roman Empire is crumbling in ruins!   Now before you insinuate I m someone who I am not I suggest you look no further than your own conscience as to what is right and what is wrong!

let's see the facts on that reval of Tommasone's house and Mertz's house so we can decide for ourselves.

PDQ ~ You're absolutely right!  I am sure that numerous 'back-door' deals have occured in Rotterdam, not just under Tommasone, but in all the past administrations and past assessors.

The more this shapes up, the more I am convinced that Steve, the dictator, will lose.  Word is that Tommasone is running for a committee seat in his brother's district, obviously even his brother was sick of the republican fighting.

One thing I will say about the property taxes, seems to me that if someone invests in their property, instead of vacations/gambling/toys, or even investment portfolios, the government punishes them for that choice.  Tell me, do you really think that the way we tax property is 'fair'?  The government actually creates a disincentive to invest in your home, go figure - then you wonder why the town looks like crap.

It's still a good time for "CHANGE"

LOL  I get it you are all assessor's now.
Hmmmm perhaps YOU have that training under your belt, huh?
And as far as the 'accusations concerning tommasone and who ever else, please do reveal this to us with backed up facts. Give us names, addresses, assessment both past and present for EVERYONE in the town that has received this 'favor'.

Hey and while you're at it, find out if anyone is using a taxpaid, on the job, computer while on this board, huh?
