Use Rotterdam water tower to promote town

It would look good to see "Rotterdam, NY" written or painted on its water tower on Hamburg Street.

Yeah, it would. But it would look better if the governments could give us good highways, clean water and sewers that operate correctly too. They have a hard time doing the basics, now people are pissed that they don't do PR well enough. If it was owned by Schenectady County I bet it would say

SCHENECTADY COUNTY
SUSAN SAVAGE, CHAIR of the county legislature

Maybe she should climb up there and paint it herself then.

I always liked the idea of having the town name on the tower too.  But I was surprised to learn at a meeting in Rotterdam Junction discussing the new water tower that painting the towers costs several hundred thousand dollars.  I'd have to check my notes, but the number thrown out by the Supervisor was pretty large when the subject of painting came up.  I think Kevin was there - maybe he remembers better than me.

If the number is a large one, then I can do without it.  It's just not a priority. We have so many other more pressing matters that money could be spent addressing.

Why not let the graffiti "artists" paint the water tower?  There is certainly a large number of aspiring young artists in the area who will gladly paint the tower provided that adults purchase the spray paint (because it is a controlled substance requiring proof of age).

I am confused about why anyone would even be discussing spending money on painting the tower while residents are being squeezed by higher taxes.  I'm certain that Supervisor Tommasone will "invest" some of the taxpayer money to study the merits and the costs.  He may even ask that someone consider other modes of tower beautification (e.g., wall paper, paneling, etc.)

So far, the Obamite lady who demands this was the biggest supporter of John Paolino other than his wife and kids, and never misses a chance to tell the conservative republicans board members how wrong they were. I doubt that the supervisor is concerned with her critique. There are more important expenditures now than paint jobs.

Like the "hose" job Steve T is giving the residents.  Ride around town and look at the blight
on Hamburg St, Coldbrook, Four corners, the former Price Chopper property, parts of Altamont
Ave, Capitol Plaza all under the tenure of Steve "quite frankly" Tommasone.  This guy is worse than siggy.  Wake up people we are worse off with this administration than any other in the
history of Rotterdam.

What has Steve done for the taxpayer besides pad his budgets with crony hires and gimmicks  Economic Development????  Quality of life???
Youth activities????   Senior services????    Pack it up Steve, you lose!!!

What a choice.  Is this the best that the two major parties can offer?  Is there a third party candidate out there?

If anyone has ever attended a town board meeting, they know who Nadine Putorti is. She always brings up having Rotterdam on the water towers.

She is a very nice woman who I give tons of credit to for taking the time to attend our town board meetings and caring about our community. Wish more people were like her.

She is an Obamite liberal who hates all things republican.
