No article in today’s paper so I thought I’d add a few thoughts.

First, let’s not make too much of Mr. Marchinkowski’s ABSTAIN.  My impression was that he genuinely didn’t know which way to vote.  To be fair, it was probably one of the more complicated and controversial decisions he’ll face and he had to face it right out of the blocks.  Zoning decisions can be tricky like that.  (See my multitude of previous arguments regarding the importance and utilization of the Comprehensive Plan.)

Here is where I would take issue.  When faced with possible indecision, ALWAYS side with affected residents.  That’s who your primary responsibility is to.  Ensure that you preserve, protect, and enhance residents’ Quality of Life.

What isn’t the case, and a case that I previously thought might be valid, is any legal consideration.  Mr. Marchinkowski voted on 2 other rezoning items that followed that had public hearings the exact same time as the Amedore rezoning request.  So it appears he was simply undecided.

Though the resolution ultimately failed, the other troubling aspect that was emerging during the preliminary debate was the question of ACCOUNTABILITY.  Supervisor Tommasone answered a question of the affected resident that I understood to mean that the responsibility to properly address all the concerns raised would fall on the shoulders of the Planning Commission.  How convenient.  (That relates to my earlier argument pertaining to the recent engineer selection change too.)

I’ll be interested to see quotes behind the reasoning of why each member voted like they did when any article is published.

The only thing Steve ever did that was right was turn the lights off after the meeting.  He
is toast.  Burnt toast.  Hanging out with seedy dudes at the news stand in Albany on his lunch
hour is always good political stategy.  Hey Steve hows your Bro's house on Shardon fairing
during these turbulent times in the real estate market.  Has he gotten another reduction from mr. surprise surprise surprise????  Oh the list of reductions in assessments reads like a who's
who in Rotterdam Republican politics.  Talk about Constintiono??? Steve T and Co. make them
look like boy scouts.
Hey just asking who holds the computer contract in town hall???  How bout some insurance
contracts???? We know the political wranglings and leanings of our town attorneys.
Just askin but is the Republican Town Chairmans bro's law form in White Plains benefiting
from Gerry P's blood????  As Wild Bill Osta once said "clean out the Barn"

Start diggin Lefty.  Ask the questions in my last post.  U can lead a dog to water but u cant
make him drink it.  Steve T lost 4-5 elections. Something underneath that bloated ego and
belly made that happen. Steve ripped degeorgio, aragosa and katie oconnor at a meeting
after siggy beat Constitiono.  Look what he did to Mertz and Mazecka He hated Joe for beating Jimmy C.  Get back to basics and peel back Steve's T biggest weakness... his big fat ego and greasy palms!!!!!

I don't know of any illegal or ethical wrong doings regarding Tommasone. Nor do I particularly care who he hangs out with on his own private time at lunch. Nor do I fault him for his brother wanting his taxes lowered. There are many that have seeked the same relief and some have accomplished that.

I do take issue with what he and his party did to Mertz. Not a good thing. Not for the party or for the taxpayers. Mertz had and still has many loyal followers. It is said that it was done because Mertz didn't 'go along' with the majority. That is obsurd at best. IF Tommasone does not pull off this supervisor's election....the local reps will be done for decades.

Tommasone should have realized that Mertz was his strength. Like posted before....people thought Mertz was running for supervisor. IfTommasone, Buchannan and Parisi thought that Mertz would be the trade off for the con's line...just wait! The con's are in bed with the dems, plain and simple. Ain't nothin' gonna change that. Not even the sacrafice of Mertz.

Like I said before....all of the parties are compromised and independent minded, fresh blood, who truly wants to 'serve' is desperately needed.

If this preliminary agenda becomes the final agenda, there doesn't appear to be a lot of business being conducted this week.

CONSENT ITEMS:

128.09 Authorize the Supervisor to execute renewal contract with Catholic Charities of
Schenectady County, 818 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308 in the amount of
Three Thousand and 00/l00 ($3,000.00) Dollars for implementation of the Nutrition
Program for the Elderly for the year 2009.

129.09 Authorize the Supervisor to execute renewal contract with Catholic Charities of
Schenectady County, 818 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308 in the amount of Five
Hundred and 00/l00 ($500.00) Dollars for implementation of the Transportation
Program in conjunction with the Nutrition Program for the Elderly for the year 2009.

I still take issue with the fact that government money (taxpayer's money) is going to non-profits. And as Rotterdamians...we are paying all over the board here. Using Catholic Charities as an example, they get town, county and state funding. Why is Rotterdam contributing with our tax dollar, when we are already paying at the county and state level? Catholic Charities, that do a great service, claims to be a non-profit, which exempts them from paying taxes, yet is clearly an arm of the government's welfare system and following government guidelines.

130.09 Authorize the Supervisor to execute contract with the Capital District Marching Band
in the amount of One Thousand Four Hundred Ten and 00/100 ($1,410.00) Dollars for
participation in the 49th Annual Memorial Day Parade.
And why are we paying $1410.00 for a marching band? Is that the role of government, to make sure a band is playing in the Memorial Day parade?

Last week's town board meeting was attended by several Masullo Estates residents hoping to confirm the rumor we'd heard regarding our multi-year effort.  It appears that we are on the verge of actual achieving our goal, according to the draft agenda for next meeting.

Res. No.
140.09 Call for bids to be opened on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. for drainage
infrastructure, reconstruction, and paving of Masullo Boulevard, West Lucille Lane, East
Lucille Lane, and Christine Lane, located in the Masullo Estates area of the Town of
Rotterdam.

What?  Punctuation actually has a purpose, Sal - help me out - you're killing me.

Are you saying Mr. Godlewski and Ms. Marco deserve credit for the advancement of a possible solution?  If you are, then you'd be inaccurate.  If you're saying they are responsible for the problem, then you're also inaccurate.  Which brings me back to where I started...What?
