Wow, MT. I was simply illustrating the ridiculous turn this thread has taken. To suggest that publishing a public white pages directory is a gross invasion of privacy is just that - ridiculous. With regard to my school board service, and whether I'm too "silly," I have served at the school, regional and state levels, as VP of Capital District School Boards Association, and Legislative Liason for the NYS School Boards Association. I constantly fight for Taylor Law reform, as well as reform/repeal to the Triborough Amendment, which is a sticking point for taxpayers. If you'd like, in a different thread or privately, I can elaborate more on this for you.
Also, If you'd like, if I run for re-election for a third term two years from now, I will make sure I share with everyone the fact that I made that comment on this blog. If anyone chooses to ignore the countless hours myself and other school board member give as a volunteer service, and make an issue where there is none, then so be it.
BGage, we are doing all we can to acquire property...there are two other pieces we are also looking at. Like I said, Pinewood if unfortunately off the table. I believe that we will work tirelessly to ensure the best possible outcome in these proceedings. I know that many are displeased with this. I'd like to state clearly that we never intended to offer assessed value in any way shape or form. That was a total error by the press. We are looking to give them as much money as possible, with respect to value, for the property, IF we indeed pursue it. |

Perhaps I misunderstood your comment - or took it in a manner other than was intended. My apologies. |

Mohon’s plan for eminent domain is wrongheaded
I thought the purpose of eminent domain was to acquire land for needs such as roads, power lines or a school where there is not one [Jan. 24 Gazette]. To take away the O’Hares’ freedom of choice because you would like a bigger bus garage and more athletic fields is wrong. Try putting the shoe on the other foot.

I posted this earier and I still don't see where they can use eminent domain LEGALLY!!! Not for a bus garage or to expand an athletic field. IMHO
Quoted Text
Public use could also include the taking of land to build a school or municipal building, for a public park, or to redevelop a "blighted" property or neighborhood.

Speaking specifically to the legality argument, in this case, the school district would be a municipality, and the bus garage would be a municipal building. |

It says, "school OR municiple building" implying a difference in the two. It didn't say ... "a municiple building such as a school". |

Again, a municipal building...a building for use by a municipality. In this case, a school district is considered a municipality. Therefore, a bus garage is a municipal bullding. |

The O'hares should get a real good lawyer and go after the school and tie the case up in the courts for years. |
