Girl reports
accosting incident

    ROTTERDAM — An 11-year-old girl reported being accosted by a man after she got off her school bus near Alheim Drive about 2:30 p.m. Monday, according to town police.
    Police say the girl told them a white man, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and of medium build, grabbed her by the arm as she was walking home from the bus. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt.
    She said she turned and kicked him in the groin and ran home. No further details were provided.

I can't believe that this made a tiny little 'blurb' in the gazette. I think that this is major and should have made front page of our local section. I realize that they didn't have much to report on, but they could have printed it on the front page of the local section, ending the story with something like...'details to follow as they unfold'....or something like that. IMHO

Well, a B2 mention I guess is better than nothing, and quite honestly I'm impressed that they printed it the very next day after it happened (especially so late in the afternoon (2:30)), but I agree - it should have made bigger headlines.  

Too many times these turn out to be false reports by a child (or adult) . As much as I hope this ISN'T true - NIMBY , I hope this child is being truthful (not wishing her or anyone harm, but the cry of the wolf can only be heard so many times before it's ignored - which is a bad thing for everyone).
