GB and Benny, I agree with you both. The dem leadership has it's constituents right where and how they want them. Dumb, uneducated, uninformed, blindsided and in the dark while being fed with tax paid government handouts and patronage favors! And that about sums it up in a nutshell.

The socialist run beast has to be dismantled and changed piece by piece by piece. It is clearly too big for anyone to change it as a whole. There are just too many things to tackle and the beast knows that. From the plex, to the city school fiasco, to the fraud in the dss, to the high blood sucking taxes, to the decrease in home values, to the jobless, to the increase in crime, to the patronage jobs, to the liberal media and to all of the lies and propaganda!

And the idea of people going to a county leg meeting....that is a joke. Hundreds of people could get up to speak, and all you get in return is the roll of eyes and rude idle chit chat from our elected officials. They clearly have no respect or regard WHATSOEVER, for us, the taxpayers! It is a pathetic circus at best!

When did Surhada say he was happy with the Bush bailout? Boy, Cicero, you make a LOT of assumptions. Just because the local republicans don't issue position papers on each crazy and un-conservative thing Bush did in eight years, doesn't mean they agreed! WAKE UP! Local officials have been burdened with the Bush things for a a LONG TIME. They couldn't and can't do anything about the mistakes Bush made- duhhhhhhhhhhhhh...When did Bush call Surhada for guidance, EVER? I doubt he was calling the guy's candy shop to find out how much money to deliver to Wall street.

Surhada must have gored your Mallozzi ox or something silly, but you are now stretching the bonds of incredulity with your nut job attacks. And you asked when you made comments about him not having kids- that was your other incarnation RWilson who as I read on the Schenectady blog a long time ago assaulted him there as not being a "family man" because he didn't have children. Your hate for the man has been long seated. You apparently even keep track of what he drives and what kind of properties he purchases. I just wanted to answer your question.

And Suhrada WOULD shut down Metroplex from what I understand, but because he has only one vote and no one will even  second that idea (either party), he must figure that would not get any further than first base. So, instead of beating your hate drum against the GOP who are only a few, and instead of wanting to make sure that we have a one party system like Cuba, why not focus on trying to make sure we are not utterly subjugated by these crooks. I mean, after all- we have the media, the special interest groups, and the unions to make sure that there is only one party left. Why do I, as a conservative, or any of the other elected republicans want to join in to destroy the very last vehicle which prevents the county and country from becoming an abject dictatorship- the fractured remnants of the Republican Party?

Ronald Wilson Reagan had an eleventh commandment. Even though you pretend to be a Reaganaut, you sure hate the GOP and it's officials. You should put down your vendeta and figure out that the few remaining Republicans are a firewall. They don't have the power to STOP Metroplex. They don't have the votes to (and you really have to stop beating up Surhada for not being "persuasive" enough since the fact is, the Democrats act as a one headed beast with a robot soul, all voting in lockstep with Susan Savage and the leaders and ANYBODY WHO EVER ATTENDED ONE OF THEIR MEETINGS KNOWS THAT!!!   ) "change" things as it were. But they can inform, cajole, use the bully pulpit and stop some really bad things from going down just by their virtue of being able to cry "foul" and raise a stink. Ninety percent of the time the paper doesn't even call for an opinion or counter-point to what the dems are doing, but when they do, there are a only a small handful of republicans who will take them on. Why destroy them? Why give the prevalent party who controls just about every office in the state and local from top to bottom complete control?? It is incumbent that you disclose your true agenda.

You are sure that it would be all hunky dory if all republicans are voted out lock, stock and barrel. Apparently you are not alone. I can turn on MSNBC and hear the same thing any evening. I think any further attempt to change your mind would be fruitless. You are either a Savagite, a liberal seminar blogger, or just have some personal hate ( a 'la mallozzi gang ) for the local republicans. But you sure have stopped making sense.

GB ~ You and Salvatore crack me up!  You surely are NOT Joe Surhada, you actually referenced Ronald Reagan's eleventh commandment!  That being said, where do YOU stand on Rotterdam/Schenectady GOP airing their dirty laundry with their fight over Mertz?  We know that Tom and Jerry and Joey don't adhere to the notion that Republicans should not attack each other, after all isn't their whole plan to divide the Rotterdam GOP?  I do get a kick out of you defending Surhada when he is abandoning the County GOP to do Tom and Jerry's dirty work; then again, we all know those three were the architects of the dirtiest campaign in town history.  Too bad Sherman had to get dragged into it, he was the only true conservative running that year.

I agree 100%!!!  Mr. Surhada would never speak ill of a fellow Republican,  especially a SITTING republican in the district that he represents.  That would go against Reagan's 11th amendment.  Which again confuses me to why Surhada would give up his incumbency to run for a seat that a fellow republican already held?

GB - You want me to show party loyalty, for a party that shows no loyalty.  Go figure.

So this 11th commandment is basically saying to stick by your GOP party and it's members and not talk against them, right? Then why would Suhrada leave the county leg, for a town board seat, that is already held by Mertz, a fellow republican's seat?

And to reply to your statement GB, implying that if we don't back the reps, we will become a one party system.....well, perhaps somepeople want this present local GOP destroyed. Perhaps some people want to see, what is remaining of the party to implode within itself to hopefully resurect a more viable, vision centered party. And some of these people ARE reps. The tom and jerry show was done along time ago. They just don't know it YET!

Ya see, the reps in this country have been flying by the seat of their pants since bush. And this is what happens when a party is in lockstep with it's leader, no matter what. Don't worry...the same thing will happen to the dems. It always does.

Again, I'm a blank and don't have a horse in this race. So may the best man win!

Oh and by the way, if anyone gets a chance, listen to Paul Vandenburgh in the morning on 1300 radio. He blasts the plex and gillen. He takes phone calls too...so this would be a great venue to vent!

I emailed the Letter to the Editor below to the Daily Gazette on Saturday, July 4th.  At this point, it appears that the Editor has chosen not to publish it.

Cited Deficiencies in Metroplex Operations Must be Addressed

On Friday, July 3rd, the New York State Office of the State Comptroller’s Office released its official report of findings from their audit of the Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority (“Metroplex”).  The initial request for an audit of the public authority to be conducted (in accordance with Article X, Section 5 of the State Constitution, and Section 2673 of the Public Authorities Law) was prompted by the requests of Schenectady County residents dating back to December 2007.

The results, published after nearly 15 months from the reported start of the investigation cite deficiencies and irregularities in the operations, project oversight, funding decisions and contract awards by those who are assigned responsibility for the revitalization and economic development of defined corridors of Schenectady County.

Among the problems cited by the State Comptroller’s office are the costs of non-capital operations, an obsolete long-term capital project plan, the lack of monitoring of project performance measures and related imposition of penalties for non-compliance with stated project employment projections, and the awarding of contracts for goods and services without the benefit of competition or the formality of written contract agreements.

I read in the July 4th Daily Gazette article (“Audit finds fault with Metroplex”) of Chairman Gillen’s responses to the findings presented in the audit report.  While I am comforted to learn that the public authority was determined to be fiscally solvent with the annual infusion of sales tax revenues, I am hopeful that, rather than disputing the findings or downplaying their importance, he and those on the board of the Metroplex work to address the deficiencies cited to ensure the accountability and transparency in the operations, decisions, and actions of the public authority and the safeguarding of public revenues and authority assets.

The author is a candidate for the Schenectady County Legislature in District 4.

Great letter Brad. Too bad the gazette didn't print it. But it really doesn't surprise me that it wasn't.

I expected to hear from GB to defend Mr. Surhada's acceptance of the nomination for a fellow republicans town board seat, or at the very least point out that I wrote Reagan's 11th amendment instead of commandment.  Instead,,,,,,,,,,silence................................................................................

Let's not get off topic. The State Comptroller{Dem}has just reviewed the work of Death Ray Gillen. This audit is a cry for help. From the FBI. Handshake agreements, no bidding, no jobs, lies on top of lies. The cheerleading by the Gazetto on this miserable taxpayer ripoff Metrograft is pathetic. The naysayers were right---socialism is the problem never any solution.

After $100 MILLION drained from consumers pockets a new beanery and maybe a beauty school?  WOW! Of course Brad Littlefield is right and of course his letter will never be printed. SS Savage has been completely silent as has Judy DAG, Gordon and Finn. All running for re-election this year!

We can't do anything about another dropped ball in the City and Nisky. The one thing we can do is replace Judy DAG with Brad Littlefield.

Brad, that is an excellent letter and I commend you for taking this fight to them. Thank you.

Add this to the mix: After wasting $1 million the Big Hose Bar is finally kaput. How can anyone say keep Death Ray in his job? He is obviously over his head, completely clueless and must be immediately fired.

Even thought they don't have the votes the REPS should make a motion to fire Death Ray and put the DEMS on record for this disgrace. Send him shuffling off to Buffalo. One way-on his own dime.
