and why would the city get three? if you use population, the city would be eligible for up to half the seats -- 150,440 total county pop/61,560 city, based on census data.

I think they would have a weighted vote of some sort

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

I could be wrong, but I read it as it was abolished in 1965. And that the wards were absorbed into districts.

If you think this will shift the balance of power to the towns, and/or republcians, think again. Under the old system, city representatives came from the wards -- how many wards are there in the city? probably enuf to offset any gains in the burbs.

I do not know enough about the subject to debate it at this point.  It may well turn out to be a stupid idea, but it doesn't cost a dime for me to do some research and talk to some people.  As for shifting balance of power to the towns and/or republicans, that is not my goal at all. All I would like to see is a BALANCE OF POWER..... not this one sided, childish, I'm in the majority so screw you attitude that is plagueing the county legislature now.  My goal is to have equal and fair representation for ALL the towns and the city.  As it stands now Duanesburg does not have any representation.  Four legislators and all four are from Rotterdam.  No disrespect intended to any individual, but aside from Angelo who atleast makes an appearance at events and our Town Board meetings, we don't see a county legislator until election time.  Then, quite frankly and bluntly, they are up our butts.  That is not representation in my opinion.

Democrats control the Nisky and Glenville town boards. This is not a partisan issue.

For me, it is definately not a partisan issue.  I have great respect for all the Supervisors in the county.  I have, in fact, given Frank Quinn my blessing to speak in my absence on many issues dealing with the county.  He is a democratic Supervisor for Glenville.  I am a Republican. I don't know Mr. Landry very well, I have only met him a couple of times but he seems honorable also. I always enjoy working with Steve T.  You see, in my opinion, who recognizes and understands the needs of their town better then the Supervisors?  I think the county is lucky to have the current ones on board, why not use us?  What does Phil Fields know about what is best or what the people think in Duanesburg?  And if there is no one at the county leg table to relay the information how can we be represented on a county level?  We clearly are not.

Yes, lets talk about the high taxes out here Sal.  I just pulled my property tax bill for my own house for 2008.  The general town tax was $82.67.  Aghast!!!!!  That is astronomical.  Now, let me take a look at my county tax or.....I'm sorry, I guess they are calling it the NYS and Federal madate tax now, that one was $1,491.70.  I think the residents are getting a better bang for their buck with the town tax then they are the county tax.  Let me see, what services do we receive from the county again???  Oh Yeah, taxation without representation!!!!!!!!!!!! Angelo excluded of course.

I'm glad she (Judy) gets out here once a week to meet with important people, that way atleast one person per week will feel represented.  I just wish they would let the rest of us know so I can stop saying these things and put her on the list with Angelo.

As for the library, our democratic town board member is on the library committee and she has not indicated to us any plans to make the library new and environmental.  In fact, she has indicated there are no plans at all.  Just came from the Community Center a little while ago for a Garden Club meeting and unless they use the pool there is no more room at the community center for the library.  In fact, I spoke with the owner when this rumour surfaced a couple of years ago and he said it can not work having the library at the center because of space constraints.
So my facts are in order, perhaps you better go back to your homeland security sources and recheck yours.
