Don't forget the Election Expense line on your bill.  The county took over the election expense a few years ago and our overall share for the town of Duanesburg went from approx. $9,000 to $32,000 since then.  Of course they have that whole Help America Vote law to deal with but that seems like a huge increase.

So it now costs you $22,000 more to have an election?  Did they add polling places? Add staffers?  What's the reason for the ungodly increase?  (The workers, AFAIK, still get the same rate/day)

That's a complete ripoff. Anything this horrid County gets involved in falls apart. As far as HAVA, NY is the only State not in compliance, costing us millions of dollars in Federal money. They can't even decide on a new voting machine and each County is on there own in a usual cob job.

So what did Duanesburg get for this huge increase?

There was a new BMD (Ballot marking device) at each polling place for handicapped people to be able to vote.  Two polling sites were merged into one.  In fairness, the BMD's couldn't have been cheap and the merger made sense to cut down on cost.  Do any of you guys see this line on your bills? You all seem pretty surprised?

Ah - ok, so I don't need to send in my check this year for ~$8000, an average of my yearly income tax? Can I just put on the return "Noting due, per Salvatore" ?

I'll tell that to my parent's, landlord and owner of the building I lease space in too .. they'll be pleased.

Too much cooperation?

Several years ago, Republicans were the majority of the Schenectady County Legislature and Democrats held almost total control of Schenectady City Hall.

The Democratic arsenal of election campaign rhetoric included a plea to voters to give county control to the Democrats. Their war cry was eliminate the infighting with the GOP by enabling Democrats to run both the city and county. They said consolidated one-party rule and cooperation would produce wonderful results for taxpayers.

Well, the Democrats now own the whole city/county show. This year, they showed how well they could cooperate by scheduling both the city and county budget public hearings at the exact same time on the same night. Some local community activists were livid because they wanted to speak out against both city and county budget increases. Obviously they couldn't be in two places at the same time...........

Another gem from Marv. Only in the TU. Gee the People's Gazetto is remarkably silent on this. And every other public outrage.

Working together works? To ripoff the oppressed taxpayers and feather favored nests. Every Krat needs to be booted out next November from "legislator" down to dog catcher. Bring a pen to the polls just in case. They have tricked you again and put all the blame on "State Mandates" which a different Krat mandated.

Sal--you should be Sally, the little girl dancing in a playground wearing a grey tattered frock with dingy bobby socks and saddleshoes with the soles falling off and pony tails askew, holding a dandelion while in the background a swing moves in the wind and bodies from the
nuclear holocaust lie about...and you're smiling while singing "I love you, you love me, we're a happy family.......da da da da da"

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Marv Cermark (writer of the above mentioned article in the TU) failed to mention one thing.  In 2010, the Demeocrats will have nothing...AND I MEAN NOTHING...to complain about.

Democrat President
Democrat Senate
Democrat House of Representatives
Democrat Governor
Democrat State Senate
Democrat Assembly
Democrat County Legislature
Democrat Mayor
Democrat City Council

...and somehow we won't be able to blame them.

(Schenectady ought to be getting some roundabouts paved in gold now...)
