PANCAKE BREAKFAST ROTTERDAM — Rotterdam Sunrise Rotary will hold an all you can eat pancake breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 26, at the Rotterdam Senior Citizens Center, 2639 Hamburg St. The breakfast will include unlimited pancakes, sausage and beverage. Tickets are $6 per person, and free for children under 6. Tickets will be available at the door. All proceeds will go to support youth and community programs in the Town of Rotterdam.
2 PANTRY BENEFITS ROTTERDAM — Cobblestone Church, 118 Putnam Road, has scheduled the following two events to benefit the Schenectady Inner City Mission Food Pantry. A bottle drive will be held from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 26. A Ziti Dinner is planned from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 9. The dinner will include ziti, meatballs, salad, bread and dessert. There will also be a bake sale. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for kids under 12.
‘DAMN YANKEES’ ROTTERDAM — Mohonasen High School’s Mohon Masque will present the musical “Damn Yankees” at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, April 1 and 2 and at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, in the high school auditorium. The musical is a modern day retelling of the Faust legend set during the 1950s in Washington during a time when the New York Yankees dominated Major League baseball. The story follows Washington Senators fan, Joe Boyd, who makes a pact with the devil to help his team win the league pennant. The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for students and seniors.
TAKE OUT FISH DINNER ROTTERDAM — The Schonowe Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will sponsor a fi sh dinner (take out only) from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 1, at 112 Gordon Road (just above the Rotterdam Square Mall). The menu will include deep fried haddock filet with all the fi xings. The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for kids 4 to 10-years-old and free for kids 3-years-old and younger. All proceeds will go to support the scholarship fund and other community organizations.

I don't know the specific dates and times, but I believe that the Duanesburg Volunteer Ambulance Corps is having their annual Fish dinners each Friday of April (starting tomorrow). I believe they are from 4-7, but maybe someone could post with more information. They usually put on a good dinner.

Culinary event will raise money to help youths A Taste of the Capital Region will benefit Boys & Girls Clubs programs BY MARCY VELTE Gazette Reporter
This summer, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady will hold its first “A Taste of the Capital Region” event. The fundraiser will feature 40 to 50 local chefs who will be asked to prepare their favorite dishes. Both professional and amateur chefs from across the region will be invited to participate. From 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 13, the first “A Taste of the Capital Region” will be held at the Boys & Girls Clubs’ Rotterdam site at 721 Curry Road. All of the money will go toward the Schenectady clubs, which are observing their 75th anniversary this year. The clubs provide youth development programs for more than 3,000 school-age children at 13 locations in Schenectady County. “The clubs are run for the children who need it the most,” said Executive Director Shane Bargy. “Many come from diffi cult circumstances and face terrible barriers. We help them to overcome those barriers.” The idea for the culinary event came from the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City, where Bargy was the executive director for the past two years. The Atlantic City event is in its 10th year and raised $61,000 in 2010. Bargy is hoping to raise between $25,000 and $30,000 at the Schenectady event. Tickets are $50 and go on sale April 15. The price includes valet parking, admission to the event and a cookbook containing recipes for all of the evening’s entrées, appetizers and desserts. Adult beverages are also included. KIWANIS CLEANUP HELP ROTTERDAM — Volunteers are needed to join in the Canal Clean Sweep from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday at Kiwanis Park on Route 5S, rain or shine. Volunteers will clear litter from the park and the adjacent bike path. Gloves and bags will be provided.
WWII ‘FLY GIRLS’ ROTTERDAM — The Schenectady County Republican Women’s Club will sponsor a Women’s History Month Luncheon to honor Women Air Service Pilots (W.A.S.P) of WWII from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at Canali’s Restaurant, 126 Mariaville Road. The family of WASP Virginia Sweet, a local woman, will bring memorabilia and a video about the “Fly Girls” will be shown. Also, Navy Lieutenant, Deirdre DePew, will talk about women pilots.
