Erie Boulevard looks great. It was certainly worth the investment of money and the "hassle" during construction. Now, they are redoing lower State Street. Then we can look forward to Mohawk Harbor and the renewal of the north end of the Erie Blvd Corridor. All of which will spur additional private investment in redevelopment projects in Schenectady.
And what are the taxpayers in the neighborhoods getting as a return on their so called "investment"

These "private investment in redevelopment projects" that you speak of, will they be devoid of any Metroplex funds? Will these propertys, if any are any to be purchased, be done so directly through the current owners and not through Metroplex?
AGAIN....where were/are the existing business owners???
Why aren't they bit*hing at the city council meetings?
Why aren't they asking to dissolve the METROPLEX/GILLEN?
Crickets!!
I'm tellin' ya...they don't care!!!!
So don't waste your time!!

You posted above that crime is down in Schenectady and claimed you got that info from the FBI. Almost four years and you STILL HAVE NOT PROVIDED THE LINK to where you got that information from on the FBI website.
Why do you REFUSE to provide evidence and/or links that support the statements you make????????????? Why DV?????

And in this thread, in 2010, DV stated crime in Schenectady is down and he claims he got that information from FBI stats.
DV NEVER provided any link to the FBI stats. He was requested to provide a link to the website where he claims he got the info and after several requests and four years, he has REFUSED to provide one teeny weeny shred of proof to support what he wrote.
Lies. Gosh, can he see beyond the end of his Pinocchio nose?

The grass is 6" weeds, many of the trees are dying, and light bulbs are burned out. It isn't maintained. Nor did I expect it to be.
You are mistaken. I drove through today. The grass was all cut. None of trees looked as if they were dying. It was day time so I can't say anything about the light. Although, it didn't appear that any were out when I drove through sometime last week at night.
Conclusion - Erie Blvd IS being maintained.

I had to drive that way yesterday a.m., and yeah, the grass was cut and it actually looked half-way decent. Traffic seemed to be moving pretty good also. I was pleasantly surprised.

It may look pretty but what impact is it having on the tax base in the city, the home values, the ability of people to sell their homes, the blight in the city, the number of tax foreclosures in the city, the essential services to the people who actually live IN the city and pay the taxes, and the tax BILLS.
What are the taxpayers, the homeowners, in the neighborhoods who are paying for these projects getting as a return on their "investment." No one ever seems to want to answer that question. Wonder why not.

Ad DV has been on this board just 30 minutes ago and he STILL REFUSES to provide any evidence of his statement about crime is down according to the FBI.

So where is your EVIDENCE. Post a photo TODAY and dated TODAY

I have no idea. That being said, why aren't all the business' that aren't receiving tax breaks and such not up in arms and complaining as another poster has suggested? And why aren't the "silent majority" of the homeowners in the City up in arms complaining? That to me is the bigger question. Logic would dictate that if these groups aren't up in arms over the situation, then they must be okay with all that's been going on.
I'm far too simple a person to know for sure, and most times I really don't waste my energy thinking about it. I'll leave that to those of you who are much younger and still have a passion for these types of battles.
Oh, and just as a side note, my post was merely to point out that compared to a few weeks ago Erie Blvd. was looking pretty good.

Drive down there yourself.
And you know where you can put your attitude. I don't have to respond to you. I don't take orders from you. And I certainly don't have to take your guff. If you don't don't like that - that is your problem. Grow up and deal with it.
Frankly, I think you are an insane nut job who should be locked up so you don't harm society -- couldn't care less what you do to yourself.

The simple answer to your question: Compared to 10 years ago, the city and county with the help of metroplex/county economic development office has turned things around and we are heading in the right direction. 10 years ago, downtown was a ghost town. Things were getting progressively worse. No one - certainly not me - is saying that everything is now perfect and rosey. There certainly are issues to be addressed - taxes, aging infrastructure (water, sewer, streets), a surplus of aging and obsolete housing, vacant buildings, etc. But the city and the county have been working together. They have a plan and are step-by-step moving the city and the county in a positive direction. THAT is why all business owners and all residents are not up in arms. They see that our civic leaders are trying, working and things are getting better. On the other hand -- certain posters will complain no matter what. Look back through old threads and posts. If a bit of good news is announced, certain posters find some excuse to whine and complain about it. They are not happy unless they are putting down our community, its leaders and anyone who disagrees with them.

almost every "bit"of your so called good news seems to hit me in the wallet one way or another
