The city is making itself into a college town with the theater and walkable.....they dont want cars down there.......however the county is putting all the DSS folks into the city.....and as the city is changing the
DSS folks are moving into the surrounding towns........like locusts..........cut off the food line and the problem will go away.....MOVE THE CHEESE........and send in the Feds to clean out the drug dealing
gangs........

A Republican brain.

Huh?   How do you come up with that?????

The democrats are the ones who are handing out all the tax exemptions on the rich businesses.  And since tbe taxes on those properties must still be collected, it's being collected from the lower income people.

So, I have proved my.,.....money is being taken from the poorer people and given to the rich.  The millionaires are paying no property taxes---the lower income people of Schenectady have to pay higher taxes in order to cover the tax exemptions given to the millionarires;.

DV, since it is the democrats who have given out these tax exemptions to the millionaires, thus making the lower income people pay those taxes, HOW do you claim it is the repoublicans?  Are you saving that your Savage lady told the businesses and developers that no taxpyaer mnoney would pay for their moves to downtown?

BY the way.  What property tax exemptions have the SCHENECTADY democrats instituted to be given to the lower income homeowners in the city????????    Other than the republican initiated STAR tax exemption from the state, I get absolutely not one penny in tax exemption.  And in fact, the democrats---YOUR demo governor and his hooker supporter before him---have reduced our STAR exemptions.

But less focus on Schenectady.  What kind of brain in Schenectady raises taxes on the lower income people in order to exempt the rich from taxes????????   Huh?

It is a FEDERAL grant that was appropriated and awarded at least 3 years ago.  If not for Senator Clinton
this money would have gone to another city in another state -- thank you Mrs. Clinton and thanks to
Sharon Jordan for requesting the grant.

Yeah, spend our tax dollars on non essentials.  And you say it is a federal grant.  DUH, where does the federal govt get money???????    From the taxpayer.

And explain WHY you claim money for a bike path is more important than providing safe neighborhoods???????

YOu think spending money on a bike path is going to stop daytime shootings in the city??????????????

Whats' more important?????   A bike path or innocent lives?

What shootings?  There are shootings in Schenectady?  Not murders though, just random shootings?  I would think something like shootings would be in our great paper - the Gazette.   If there was a shooting, surely they caught the person.  Right?

Since the Federal grant can only be spent on improving the Erie Blvd Corridor  .. that is the BEST use
of those funds.   I don't want to see those Federal dollars going to  West Virginia or Nevada or Florida.

For too many years, Schenectady officials did NOT take advantage of Federal grants ... other cities in other
states made out well ... I know of several instances when a GOP Mayor of Schenectady REFUSED Federal
grants to help pay for projects that the City of Schenectady had to do anyway ---- what sense did it make
to say "my conscience won't allow me to take Federal dollars  .. so lets raise the city property tax rates
instead"   ??????????????????????????????????????????

I hope that the Mayor of Schenectady,  the County Manager of Schenectady, and EVERY Town Supervisor of
EVERY town in our county ..... squeezes  EVERY dime of Federal grants out that it can get its hands on.

I am a taxpayer first --- I want part of my Federal tax dollars coming back to my community and NOT
going to some Southern or Western state to build them up at our expense.

Here's a good question.

What exactly is wrong with Erie Blvd the way it is.

People in cars are fully able to get to their destination on the current Erie Blvd.

People who walk are fully able to cross at the intersection and get to their destination.

Since ALL walking and ALL driving and ALL buses on Erie Blvd as it currently is can be accomplished with no problem whatsoever, then there is no remake needed.

There's nothing wrong with it. Plant some trees on the wide sidewalks and be done with it. $14 MILLION in Federal money! +$1 MILLION in City money {that they don't have}! To slow traffic to a crawl and increase air pollution. Great Plan-lol- This is all about helping a buddy out. So what if more businesses flee. So what if no one wants a bike path. So what if revenues continue to tank. The Mayor will call this "economic revitalization" even though it will costs jobs and slow commuters to the main plant.

This is not a done deal. The SCCC forced move of the music department and first idiotic library addition were stopped. Add this to the list. Many on City Council and in the business community are against this total waste of precious resources. It's the wrong plan at the wrong time.

I hear that the money was 'shifted' and will now be the monies for the Erie Blvd. makeover......NOT for the renewal for mt. pleasantor hamilton hill for which it was originally proposed for.

And, uh, DV, close to three quarters of a million dollars must come from the city.

A few years ago it was written the city must spend $700,000.   Don't know if that $700,000 has increased, but even if it is just $700,000, where the hell is that money going to come from??????

So, you're saying it's better to spend $700,000 on Erie Blvd rather than spending it on police?????    Did you see the news, several slashings Friday night.

We have day time drive by shootings---where INNOCENT children walking home from the school bus could be killed-----but you think it's perfectly fine to cut the police budget and spend the money on Erie Blvd instead, huh?    What is your rational for cutting public safety????????
