Taking a look at the recent investments that have been made with FedEx, RailEx and the relocation of VonRoll’s headquarters, it is clear that the county Legislature and Metroplex have not forgotten Rotterdam but have been working tirelessly for it. Rotterdam taxpayers have also benefi ted from $8.1 million in direct Metroplex payments to the town. In light of these achievements, I fi nd it amazing that Rotterdam officials would attack county leaders and Metroplex after they helped attract $119 million in new investment to town in just a few short years. After decades with no significant [progress], the new leadership of Metroplex and the county has worked tirelessly to bring new development and jobs to town. How have town officials thanked them? By acting like spoiled children, attempting to distract from their own failures. The Republican-controlled town board needs to recognize that county officials are doing everything in their power to make sure the town’s economic needs are met. Rotterdam instead wants to bite the hand that feeds them. They have attempted to hide their own record of tax increases by making foolish criticisms of county leadership. Metroplex gave $8.1 million to Rotterdam to provide tax relief and economic development. Instead, the Republican majority has used these funds to hide the financial mismanagement of its failing regime. Metroplex’s record speaks for itself — new business, new jobs and new investment. That’s the kind of long-term vision that Rotterdam has been in dire need of for quite some time. Instead of bad-mouthing county officials, Rotterdam officials should be thankful for the great investment and looking for ways to work with the county for the benefit of all residents.
The money Rotterdam got from Metroplex was a tip compared to the millions of dollars dumped into the 2 block area of State Street. How about some money for sewers, drainage problems, and infrastructure.

Please Tony, state the facts here. Back up the rhetoric in your article. At what point did the Replublican Rotterdam majority attack the county legislature or metroplex. And again the word ATTACK was used here. Your printed words Tony, not mine. Or perhaps the Republcan Rotterdam majority was just DISCUSSING different ideas.
And are we to bow down to the socialist elite for pumping $8.1million back into Rotterdam? Ya know, the town that gives a portion of our sales tax money to anyways? How much went into all of the failed private businesses?

I think everybody's missing one question here. Yes, the MetroPlex has put some money int Rotterdam. They also have the very nice Metroplex Mile.
Now, if $8.1 million was "given" to Rotterdam, who was this money collected from? Probably mostly FROM Rotterdam residents, from a new tax that was put on their backs for everything that they go and buy.

County legislators are expected to confirm new Rotterdam and Glenville representatives to the Metroplex Development Authority Board at the Legislature’s meeting in February. Ed Capovani, vice president of Capovani Brothers Inc., was nominated to the board by Glenville Supervisor Frank Quinn last week. Capovani will replace David Sterman, who resigned from the board after retiring from his state job last month. Capovani and Rotterdam appointment Patrick Saccocio are the only two appointees to the 11-member board awaiting their confirmation. Schenectady representative Sharon Jordan, Niskayuna representative Robert Wall and Kenneth Bulko, who represents Duanesburg and Princetown, all continue to serve on the board as holdover appointments. “Our plan is to make all of the appointments at one time,” Chairwoman Susan Savage said Tuesday. Quinn said Sterman is planning to travel with his wife and didn’t feel he had the time to dedicate to Metroplex. He lauded Sterman’s service to the town. “We were very happy will all the work Dave did,” he said. “But we also found a comparable and equally good candidate for the job in Ed Capovani.” Metroplex Chairman Ray Gillen said Sterman, the former president of the state Environmental Facilities Corp., brought good experience and work ethic to the board. “We’re going to miss Dave,” he said Tuesday. “He was a terrific member and very active on the board.” Saccocio was selected by the town in August to fill a vacancy left when Arthur Brassard was appointed the Republican Board of Elections commissioner. Two months later, Rotterdam’s Town Board issued a terse statement demanding Savage, a Democrat, immediately take up Saccocio’s appointment. Rotterdam Town Attorney Gerard Parisi, Saccocio’s law partner and the town’s Republican chairman, echoed this statement again during the county Legislature’s meeting last week. Parisi chided legislators for taking nearly six months to vet Saccocio. “This lengthy failure of your board to act in appointing a Rotterdam representative seems not only embarrassingly political, but it is also in clear violation of law,” he told the Legislature. Savage said “I think it’s time for people to stop playing politics and let us get back to bringing in new business.”
Savage shouldn't talk about playing politics as she's one of the worst offenders of that in my opinion. What does she call giving Kosiur that political plum position for $85,000 a year with no degree in education in that field, I call it a slap in the face of the residents of this county.
Savage said “I think it’s time for people to stop playing politics and let us get back to bringing in new business.”
Is Suzie kidding here? In case you didn't know Suzie, it has ALWAYS been about playing politics. And you are the ring leader. And as far as bringing in new businesses, they are businesses that are hand picked by the present majority. It is clearly not an 'equal opportunity' county! I would still like to know how many Metroplex recipients are registered dem/rep. And which ones donate to their campaigns. Sorry Suzie, it is all about politics and ta hell with the residents/taxpayers. Kosiur is a prime example of that one. I'd be too embarrassed to show my face if I were him.
But I hear in the wind that there will be changes coming as there are some dems out there that are sick and tired of Savage as well. Some of these dems have been riding the gravy train right along with Suzie, but some of them even feel that she has crossed the line.
Time will tell I guess.
