Attn: Susan Savage, Judith Dagostino, Joseph Suhrada, Anthony Jasenski, Sr., Carolina Lazzari, Michael Petta, Vincent M. DiCerbo, Karen B. Johnson, Gary Hughes, Edward J. Kosiur, Philip Fields, James Burmaster, Robert T. Farley, Dr. Brian Gordon, Michael Eidens

As a concerned resident, taxpayer and voter of Schenectady County, I would encourage the county legislatures to rescind the newly passed sex offender law, that will take effect October 1, 2007.

I would like to propose the support of Jessica's Law, statewide. Jessica's law would not only pose stricter enforcement of sex offenders and lifetime tracking,  but would also protect us all as opposed to the few. Many other states have implemented Jessica's law with great success. This is a statewide issue and should be supported and addressed accordingly.

I encourage you all again to re-think and rescind this local law, and support Jessica's law statewide.

Respectfully,

Okay people, I know we all don't have a hell of a alot of time these days so I tried the best I could to draft up a letter that we can 'all' send to our county legislatures. All you have to do is print it out and send it. I would suggest sending one to each member personally. That is what I'm gonna do. It will cost you $6.15 for stamps and of course envelopes. (which is peanuts if you consider the possitive outcome)

Just address the envelope to the addess located at the top of the letter. And we need to send these out ASAP! Print out extras for your friends and family to send as well.

So all you have to do is.... 1. print it, 2. put it in an envelope, 3. address and stamp it, 4. and drop it in the mail.....SIMPLE AS THAT!!
oh...and don't forget to sign it!!! DUH

Come on folks, let's get movin' here. There isn't much time. Like 'Z' said, they will be addressing this at the 8/14th meeting. Let's bombard them with these letters.

bumble,

Great letter.  Hopefully your posting will be viewed and acted on by many.  (I notice that there are only 5 or 6 "regulars" in this forum).  It is important that we all make as much noise as possible between now and Tuesday, August 14th.

Please invite your family, friends and neighbors to attend and participate in the County Legislature meeting on the 14th.  There is
not much time remaining before Kosiur's law becomes effective.

I just copied that into an e-mail and sent it to myself at work so I can print it and send it. I already have the stamps and the envelopes at work, so it'll get sent out tomorrow.  Thanks Bumble.

Z2IM, Yes, we are a small group, but we are also a very vocal group who does our best to get our voices heard.  There was at least 3 (don't know if anybody else was there) at the meeting last Wednesday night that was the spur of the moment meeting.  We can only do what we can, but we won't stop fighting, we're good like that.

And let's not forget also that we can go and speak out on Wednesday towards the end of the town board meeting and see if Bob has had enough time to think of an answer yet.

The lurkers read what is said and from that information form an informed opinion on the issues discussed here.

We can also email our concerns to Geoffrey.hall@schenectadycounty.com.

He will forward all emails to the appropriate contacts. (the county legislatures)

I was also informed that letters to the county legislatures would be more effective if they were brought down to their office, in person, either individually or collectively by 1 person.

It was also said that it is imperative that concerned residents attend the meeting next Tuesday night, Aug 14th at 6pm. It will be in the country building (the old DMV building) on the 6th (top) floor.

We need to 'try' to awake the dead here in Rotterdam. There is an 'invite a freind' on the bottom of this message board. Let's start emailing/inviting and get people involved. If not, the democratic dictatorship will just grow into a beast we can't stop.

Here's our opportunity....lets give it the good college try!!

I'll have to see what I can do.  Just finished writing out and stamping all the envelopes, so I guess I'm mailing them.

My son takes part on the US Water Ski Show Team over at Jumpin' Jacks, so that pretty much stamps out me being there next Tuesday night, but I'll see what I can do.  At that hour where do you park for there?  And does the City of Schenectady still require you to feed the meter at that hour?

I sent my letters via snail mail. It will be very interesting to see how many letters these legislatures 'really do receive'. I wonder if they ever are actually dellivered? Or perhaps some get headed off at the pass....if ya know what I mean?

On, Tuesday, August 14th at 7:00 pm, Duanesburg Town Supervisor Rene Merrihew will present petitions signed by 600+ town residents calling for the rescission of Kosiur's Laws (Local Laws 03-2007 and 04-2007) that were sponsored by Ed Kosiur and passed by the Schenectady County Legislature in June 2007.

The meeting is being held on the 6th floor of the County Building.  There is a parking lot across the street from the building.

There are several Legislators who have recently expressed regret for supporting the law and who have stated that they will call for the legislation to be repealed.  If you wish to express your opinions on the legislation you must sign in.

It is important for all of those who oppose the laws, as written, to clear your schedules and attend this meeting.  Communicate the details of the meeting to friends, family and neighbors.  Together, we can pressure the County Legislators to rescind the laws as written and to work to define and pass comprehensive, enforceable and constitutional legislation that will address the needs and concerns of ALL of the residents of Schenectady County.

I am so sorry that I can't make it to this, prior engagement.  Let them have it, all.  Maybe Pat can get there and tape the ceremonies for some of us to enjoy?

There is a scheduled meeting tomorrow (wed) night at the county building for public discussion regarding the proposed sex offender law.

For those who can not attend, I would encourage those to email your concerns to: Geoffrey.hall@schenectadycounty.com. .

List the county legislatures in your email and ask, respectfully, to forward your email to each. For those who can't attend you can still let your concerns be heard through 'voice email'!!
