Welcome to you and glad you are here to share your country and culture from the other side of the world. I don't believe anyone here is from China so this thread should be interesting and informative.  It will be refreshing to here the perspective from a regular citizen's point of view as opposed to the governments. Unfortunatly, we won't be able to converse back and forth since while we are awake you are sleeping and visa versa. But it'll work!

I am one of the administrators of this message board and am looking forward to hearing from you.

First, what brings you to our little town of Rotterdam New York?

New eatery to open

An upper Union Street business district empty shop window sign announces Mr. Wasabi Restaurant, featuring a Japanese sushi bar and cooked food, is coming soon.

Owner James Cheng of Albany said he hopes to open July 7 if renovations go well. If there is a glitch, the kickoff will be July 14.

The new place will be in a former Quizno's sub shop. The subs sank several months ago, after a brief presence in the city's most successful commercial district.

Cheng operates sushi bars in Hannaford Supermarkets on Wolf Road, Latham Farm and Guilderland. He also has a sushi shop at the Empire State Plaza. Mr. Wasabi is his first try at a cooked-food menu.

Cheng, 39, came to America 10 years ago after four years in the Chinese army. He set up the sushi business network seven years ago.

"Union Street is an excellent location because besides Schenectady, the business strip draws people from nearby Niskayuna and Colonie," Cheng says.
