I don't really like either of them that much, Just dislike A more for his personal views.  His work ethic is certainly fine and admirable.  K just has more experience.  They both obviously do good community things, who knows their real motives.  You can't start second guessing what their resons are for doing good as long as they do it.  Wish there was a 3rd choice.........

There ARE always other choices, but unfortuantly our political system makes it very very difficult for anyone to run for any office without the backing of a major party. If anyone wants to run without the major party backing, they may get ONE (1) line in the voting booth and it is usually on the bottom of the row. Now, if perhaps, they are also being supported, lets say by the reps and independs, then they will have another line possible on the top and in the middle giving a visual of THREE (3) lines.

Strangly enough, some people actually think that if a candidates name shows up A FEW TIMES, they just must be the most qualified choice. And especially if they are located on the top!  The political voting system really needs to be changed! There are some smart, intellegent, hardworking people that would be really the best choice for certain political positioins. But without a major party and financial backing, their chance is slim to none!

Yes there ARE other choices and unfortunately they become obscured and our system tends to try to keep out the "marxists", "lennons", etc along with those not 'attached' to the main groups.....which is fine with me...we can all pay attention and vote 'the other guy' anytime......the masses are sheep....baaaaaa......

I just hope there is never a line titled "al quada"....or any other of the likes......

I don't know George Amedore, but my impression of Ed Kosiur is that he's trouble.

Well, Pat...For someone who "doesn't know" George Amedore" your certainly are so far up his behind only your toes are sticking out.

You are ALL OVER the internet talking smack about Ed Kosiur. Most of it nonsense, having little to do with whether or not he is a viable candidate for Assembly. I sense you have some sort of personal grudge against Ed. Sorry to hear that. But you know what they say..You can't please everyone.

I don't know George Amedore. All I know of him is what I have seen on Extreme Home Makeover. I know he comes from a wealthy family. I don't doubt he works hard. I do doubt he knows much about how government functions and that he has little awareness of what he would be getting into. (Nor would most people who lack any sort of background in any kind of government or political experience.)

Oh, I know what comes next "we need a fresh perspective!" While that may sound good in theory, we need EXPERIENCE more. Someone who can hit the ground running. Someone who has been invested in the community long-term and not only talks the talk, but WALKS THE WALK.  That person is Ed.

How do I know?

Well Pat, I know because I have not just "run into Ed" from time to time and had a few brief exchanges with him here and there. I have know Barb and Ed for over 20 years. They are solid, honest, hard working people. I am horrified at some of the vile garbage that I am seeing spewed forth on these forums.  All I can say is the people trashing Ed obviously don't know him as they say they do. Which leads me to greatly question the credibility of a lot of what is said here. I urge people to read these forums with caution, and realize that more often than not, people just want to be controversial and stir the pot because they simply have nothing better to do.

Bottom line? You may not know George Amedore. But it's also obvious you don't know Ed Kosiur either.

First there smartass sweetie, I'm not up Amedore's a**, I can't stand Kosiur! It's that simple.

I could care less that you KNOW Kosiur. I said I KNOW OF him. And yes, you betcha I'll state my OPINIONS of him because MY OPINION of him is NIL. He's bad news all the way around. He's a fake, a fraud and a slime bag!

He is part of this Democratic Dictatorship in the City and County of Schenectady. He created a jobs program getting money from the county and the city to pay businesses and not-for-profits to HIRE these kids regardless of income. We're paying their salaries there smartass sweetie! And these NOT-For-Profits and businesses get FREE HELP at taxpayer expense.

Personally, I don't want anyone else deciding who I"M going to DONATE my Charity money to.

So good, you love Kosiur. Good. Vote for him. I will NOT Vote for him and I will do whatever I can to EXPOSE this Fraud for what he is. A Fraud.

And by the way, that sex offender legislation that Kosiur's touting, he stole the idea from Joe Suhrada.
The county legislature trashed Suhrada for his idea, one that should have been dealt with in an honest and open manner, and then they wrote an all new legislation that they passed.

Without solutions. Now Kosiur is claiming that for his own. Bad, very bad.

Kosiur was appointed to the city council. How he got elected to the county is beyond me, except that we have a democrat majority with lots of these registered voters in subsidized housing. No one can tell me that they aren't told who to vote for. Look what we got? Barbara Blanchard, Marker law advocate.

Ed Kosiur is a fraud, pure and simple. He is no good to take over such an important position as State Assembly man. While he'll certainly (most likely) get it from Schenectady, although maybe not because the district isn't made up of too many subsidized voters, I can't see the good folks of Montgomery County getting sucked into his lies.

This forum is here "for the people". It is here as a service. It is here for "the people" to post their opinions. And they are free to do so. We do not consider "the people's" opinion as "stiring the pot". We consider it "their right of free speech" and encourage "the people"  that they exercise that right. We may not always agree with another's opinion, but it is just that, their opinion.

105TH ASSEMBLY DISTRICT
Candidate for Assembly touts economic ideas
Amedore faces Kosiur in July 31 election

BY EDWARD MUNGER JR. Gazette Reporter

Republican Assembly candidate George Amedore Jr. on Thursday outlined several ideas he says could help restore the “economic might” once wielded through industry in Schenectady and Montgomery counties.
Amedore, 38, is running against Democratic Schenectady County Legislator Ed Kosiur, 51, to represent the 105th Assembly District, which includes all of Montgomery County and parts of Schenectady County.
A special election to fill the seat, vacated last month by Democrat Paul Tonko, is scheduled for July 31.
Eliminating Thruway tolls between Albany and points west in Schenectady and Montgomery counties and pursuing an ethanol production facility are part of Amedore’s “I-90 W Jobs” plan he said could boost employment, support local agriculture and make travel to the Capital Region’s western fringe easier for businesses and commuters.
Amedore said the lack of adequate local jobs forces people in the district to commute east to Albany for work, and tolls for that travel add an additional burden on these commuters.
Amedore proposes eliminating the tolls from Thruway Exit 23 in Albany County west to Thruway Exit 29 in Canajoharie.
Tolls, such as the $2.05 toll people pay to drive from Canajoharie to downtown Albany on Interstate 90, also known as the New York State Thruway, are “another fee, another burden” on commuters, Amedore said.
The same fees cause hardship on businesses bringing in or sending out raw materials and finished products, he said.
“ W e h a v e the infrastructure here,” said Amedore, who announced his plan in Amsterdam in front of the abandoned Esquire Novelty factory building on Forest Avenue.
“Let’s make it easy to bring in raw materials. We should encourage the commerce,” he said.
Amedore said waste and inefficiency would be targeted as a means of making up the toll money that provides working revenue for the state Thruway Authority to maintain infrastructure.
One way to create jobs in the region is to develop an ethanol production facility, taking advantage of the agricultural supplies and available labor, Amedore said.
Job training with an emphasis on high-tech manufacturing — pursuits that could be fostered at the Fulton-Montgomery and Schenectady County community colleges — could put Schenectady and Montgomery counties on the list of possible sites for “feeder” companies working with the AMD facility being planned in Saratoga County, Amedore said.
“I-90 West should also reap benefits of high-tech plants,” Amedore said.
The massive Esquire Novelty factory building in Amsterdam is one of several unused facilities that could serve as manufacturing sites to support Capital Region technology production, but the state needs to boost its efforts to clean up former sites and aggressively market them, Amedore said.
Protecting the financial health of families, Amedore said, should be a primary goal of state government, and the first step toward that goal is to reduce the cost of living in the region.
“There’s too many burdens, too many taxes. We need to get the government to release its stronghold on the hardworking families,” Amedore said.
Amedore is on leave from his job as vice president of Amedore Homes while his opponent, Kosiur, is on leave from his position as teen employment director at the Boys & Girls Club of Schenectady.
Kosiur later Thursday took issue with Amedore’s plan to foster an ethanol production facility, pointing to the new-age fuel’s impact on the local dairy industry.
Kosiur said Montgomery County is the third largest milk producer in the state, and the mass production of ethanol, made primarily out of corn, has driven the price of corn up, complicating dairy farmers’ efforts to feed their cows.
“Our farmers are suffering from this, our dairy industry is suffering from this. Myself and Paul Tonko are working closely on an alternative means of producing this ethanol without the corn being a main product,” Kosiur said.
He said an announcement on that initiative is forthcoming.
Kosiur said he, too, is concerned about creating jobs and increasing development in the 105th Assembly District, a job he said he is prepared for based on success in Schenectady.
While he served as a Schenectady County legislator, Kosiur said, more than $200 million in private money and development was brought to downtown Schenectady. Throughout the county, Kosiur said, more than 2,000 “real jobs” were created during his tenure, in addition to 32 commercial buildings being placed back on the tax rolls.
“Working together, Schenectady and Montgomery [counties] can share economic development,” Kosiur said.

Wow! Three posts for Pat in response to mine. I take it I struck a nerve.

To admin, I am well aware that opinions are welcome here. That is why I came and shared mine. I am also aware that "pot stirring" is legal, due to free speech. But that doesn't mean it has to go unchallenged.

Personally, I COULDN'T care less that you think Ed Kosiur is a "fraud." You throw that term around with nothing to back it up, so it holds no weight. You dislike him personally. Big whoop. Sounds to me like you don't even know him. All you have are a few vague stories of "I ran ito Ed Kosiur here or there" and because he didn't tell you exactly what you wanted to hear he's a "FRAUD."

"Stole it?" Dramatic much? How do you know the idea was stolen and not discussed or shared?  BRING IT ON, ED. Some of the best laws we have in place today originated because of input from various sources.  Surely you can recognize this.

Or maybe not.

I don't give a rat's behind about your blog. But I might remind you that libel is still libel. And you have used your name. You might want to be careful about what you say on NUMEROUS blogs on the internet. (Especially since you are so easily identified.)

Free speech is great. Bet let's not forget about accountability where libel is concerned:

Libel

1. Law. a. defamation by written or printed words, pictures, or in any form other than by spoken words or gestures.
b. the act or crime of publishing it.
c. a formal written declaration or statement, as one containing the allegations of a plaintiff or the grounds of a charge.

2. anything that is defamatory or that maliciously or damagingly misrepresents.
–verb (used with object) 3. to publish a libel against.
4. to misrepresent damagingly.
5. to institute suit against by a libel, as in an admiralty court.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and that's not libel. There are many of us on this forum who can't stand what the Democratic controlled city/county councils have done for and to Schenectady and if Ed K has been part of it then he has to go I don't care how good a guy he is at home how he votes is what concerns me and his record of voting to raise taxes is very bad. I notice that on Ed's new commercial that he's saying that he has lowered taxes is that a little political white lie that we're supposed to overlook too?

I would not vote for Mr. Kosiur because he is a democrat. After living through what the dem's have done to not only Schenectady, but how they have left  Rotterdam in the mess it is today, I would not vote for him.

Mr. Kosiur may be a nice guy...but he's a part of the political democratic platform...and I do not want him to be my 'state' representative.....so no vote from me! And that is not just my opinion, that is my right!

Sometimes taxes need to be raised. Sometimes it's just a fiscal reality. Not because the person voting to raise taxes is "evil" or a "fraud."

I've seen the state of Schenectady County. I've been a visiting nurse there for many years. Trust me when I say i understand exactly why taxes needed to be raised in some circumstances. But I also know that Ed also voted to cut taxes in other cases. Maybe some people need to get their facts straight with regard to his voting record.

And opinions are one thing. Dislike, that's fine. But a lot of what is being said and done here and on other boards is blatant defamation of character to say the least. I'm just reminding people that Freedom Of Speech is great. But there is also personal accountability that comes into play. You can't just say whatever you want about a public official (especially if it is defamatory and untrue) and then play the "freedom of speech" card. Because if it is untrue, and damages that person's reputation it is LIBELOUS. (See above.)

It always amazes me that people think they can come onto the internet and have a free-for-all. I'm just reminding people that the accountability is still relevant. If you wouldn't say it in public, you probably shouldn't say it here.
