ROTTERDAM
Masullo drainage project anticipated to start this season
Residents continue to voice worries

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter

Rotterdam officials advanced a drainage project in the groundwater-plagued Masullo Estates development last week but continued to receive quality-of-life complaints from neighborhood residents.
Members of the Town Board agreed to put the work out to bid this week and declared Rotterdam the lead agency in the long-awaited project. With the bids scheduled to be opened later this month, the project could proceed during the spring.
Project engineer Brett Steenburgh said the scope of the work will be determined by the bids. The estimated $1.35 million project included a full reconstruction of Masullo Parkway, a replacement of the storm sewers and a drainage system that will carry groundwater away from the road toward a catch basin built at the end of East Lucille Lane.
“Hopefully there’s a light at the end of the tunnel,” remarked board member Michael Della Villa after the resolution passed.
But the project’s small step forward didn’t stop a pair of outspoken residents from making mention of the deteriorating conditions throughout the 88-home development. East Lucille Lane resident Mike Budka again criticized the town highway department for not doing anything to sweep up debris resulting from the crumbling roads throughout Masullo Estates.
“Nothing, zip, zero,” he said. “And for anyone who might be bilingual, nada.”
Fellow East Lucille Lane resident Michael O’Connor mentioned the clearing of forest land across the street from his home. For more than two years, he said crews have carved an illegal road into the woods without seeking town approval for a curb cut.
The land in question was once owned by Carman Masullo and is located adjacent to 15 acres the town indirectly acquired from the developer for the purpose of building the catch basin. Both parcels were subject to a 2004 ruling by the town Planning Commission, which prohibited any further development until an exhaustive environmental study could be undertaken by any prospective builder.
Now, O’Connor said large dump trucks and industrial wood chippers are working around the clock on weekends. He questioned why the town code enforcer hadn’t stepped in to prevent the activity.

So did Mike ever get an answer? It didn't say he did in the gazette article. I'd be curious as to what the board's respond was.....if any at all.

I wouldnt get your hopes up there Michael .. .  I suggest you not post your
obvious naivate' for bloated ego Steve and his minnions to think they pulled the wool over you and the Masullo's residents eyes.  Keep the pressure on and I agree that you do not have
what it takes to be a potential elected official.  You're way too far up Johnny Boy Mertz' coolie.

Okay, no problem...I'll count you in the "against" column. But I read your other posts (nearly all negative and insulting) on this board and from what I can tell you're more part of the problem than the solution - so forgive me if I skip your advice.

It appears that Michael is not concerning himself with what any political party thinks, says or does. It seems he just wants to serve his community and will let the people decide if they also want him to or not. IMHO

Michael, has the Town Board ever said anything about what they intend to do about the storm water drain from Netherlands Village that isn't working the way it was engineered and are they going to fix it?

You confuse wimpy with being respectful.  Don't look for me to change my approach.  If I can't get elected with my integrity intact, then there isn't much point to getting elected, is there?  Eat me alive?  That's pretty funny.  You don't know me.  They don't either.  For that matter, the people probably don't either...but I'll win it or lose it on their doorstep.

Ah...finally back on the thread topic...thanks.   No they haven't.  Though we all recognize it as being a problem, it isn't included in the scope of this remedy which centers around road improvement.  We'll be continuing to get it addressed though as a separate initiative.

You're all over the place, topic-wise.  Still negative though.  I'll give you points for consistency anyway.  I think it's a possible breach of ethics.  Did you voice your concerns during the meeting when it was decided or do you just save them up so you can keep complaining all the time?

My point is that you are a one topic flash in the pan.  Gotta a little water in your cellar when we have a heavy rain and you want to change the way Grease mer and Stevie ego do
business.  Hey i bet alotta peeps get some water in the basement.  Redo all the drainage in
town or else Michael the Arch angel will threaten a third party run.  Give up the crusade.

You stated in an earlier thread how you thought the people on the current town board were
above and beyond anyone else had to offer.  Hence the computer question.  Wanna get
elected show us you have the cayunnes to clean up the muck in the town hall before yer
stinkin cellar!!!  That is a candidate for the people not a self centered zealot like Stevie ego
and wannabe elected officials sans YOU!!!!!

Then your point needs lots of work.
A.  I don't even have a cellar or ever experienced water problems personally.
B.  My intention to run for elected office has nothing to do with the Masullo road reconstruction effort I was involved in.
C.  We've already established you won't vote for me so I don't think I need to show you anything.  I'll concede your vote to the opposition.

Like I said earlier, you obviously don't know me or anything pertaining to the facts about Masullo Estates.  If you did, you would know I've never ever had a water problem because I don't have a basement.  You would also know that I am far from a "one topic flash in the pan."  Go do your research.

Lastly, don't throw out half-a** paraphrases of "something I stated in another thread."  Produce the quote, and I'll be happy to clarify it in context.

Since you seem clearly unhappy with the present administration and me, whom are you expecting to provide what you're seeking?  An unnamed Democratic slate?

I think you have some nerve over there asking him who he would want to vote for since this IS AMERICA unless you repubs forgot with bush when you took away the freedoms of us and forced us to go to the war over there. Did you ever hear of the secret ballot?
