Americans need better Democratic leadership
First published: Friday, June 22, 2007

Your "Earmark follies" editorial (June 20) does a public service by shining a light on House Democrats' lack of accountability.
Republicans have been leading the fight to ensure taxpayers' dollars are spent in a transparent way. Meanwhile, Democrats have been breaking promises, gutting accountability reforms instituted last year by Republicans, and trying to sneak through 30,000 "earmarks" without public scrutiny.

Republicans publicly exposed and prevented this secret slush fund -- the sole purpose of which was to make it tougher for taxpayers to see how their hard-earned dollars are spent.

This is just the latest in a disturbing string of broken promises by Speaker Pelosi and her fellow Democrats. They rammed through the largest tax hike in American history, consistently fail to support our troops and commanders in the field, and are demonstrating questionable ethics and a lack of accountability.

It is easy to see why people are losing faith in the Democrats in Washington. This is not the kind of leadership American needs and deserves.

And to add to that, it's not what "WE" asked for, either.  I just can't wait until 2008 comes and all this junk is over.  Hopefully in that election we can turn things around and show the country that it wasn't because "WE" liked how the Democrats were promising things, but instead that "WE" were upset with how the supposedly Conservative Republicans were screwing up the job.

They refuse to speak in clear truths....that the $$ in our storehouses will have to be used....we are too expensive for ourselves....we cant do anything for ourselves...we like to have 'cheap labor' and then complain those folks are taking MY JOB AWAY...cheap toothpaste and then complain when it's contaminated and why didn't the government do something about it.....fancy big cars and then complain when we have to gas them up....eat at restaurants and then complain when the power goes out and wonder what to cook....Neither party has a hold on the 'foundations'.....they both chant"for the party for the party for the party"...but, for WHAT??

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
