As some of you folks may have noticed, the REMS lawsuit that was posted had to be temporarily deleted. It was brought to my attention that the filing
openly displayed certain personal information on the plaintiffs that I had not seen.

While this information is obviously contained in the public document on file in the Schenectady County Clerk's office, I trust that anyone who downloaded
the document before this redacted version was posted will excercise confidentiality and responsibility in their possession of that information.

Well Kelly is certainly NOT a member of TeamRotterdam --- she has done more to TEAR DOWN this
community...    She has done nothing positive or constructive for the community.

No you flaky boob, she has brought to light the crooks and major theft that has gone on in this
community for years!  Maybe you should stop using "Just for Men" hair color, because for one it
isn't a good look for you and two the dye must be eating your brain!

On this Memorial Day, I'd like to pay my respects to all first responders  --and in particular to those first responders who died in the line of duty.

Yeah...I'd say DVR totally missed the meaning of Memorial Day.

The men who fought in the Battle of the Bulge earning $50 a month can really identify with the $75K per year RPD patrolman faced with an out of control 12 year old at the roller rink.

EVERY serviceman that gave his life fighting was a hero. THAT is the reason for the observation of this national holiday. It is SHOCKING how badly people want to steal that away from them as they lay cold in their graves in order to politicize the day to try to sway votes. So Rotterdam, so ignorant.

Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. There are many stories as to its actual beginnings, with over two dozen cities and towns laying claim to being the birthplace of Memorial Day. There is also evidence that organized women's groups in the South were decorating graves before the end of the Civil War: a hymn published in 1867, "Kneel Where Our Loves are Sleeping" by Nella L. Sweet carried the dedication "To The Ladies of the South who are Decorating the Graves of the Confederate Dead" (Source: Duke University's Historic American Sheet Music, 1850-1920). While Waterloo N.Y. was officially declared the birthplace of Memorial Day by President Lyndon Johnson in May 1966, it's difficult to prove conclusively the origins of the day. It is more likely that it had many separate beginnings; each of those towns and every planned or spontaneous gathering of people to honor the war dead in the 1860's tapped into the general human need to honor our dead, each contributed honorably to the growing movement that culminated in Gen Logan giving his official proclamation in 1868. It is not important who was the very first, what is important is that Memorial Day was established. Memorial Day is not about division. It is about reconciliation; it is about coming together to honor those who gave their all.

There are some who might take the service to the nation to recognize police, fire and medical professionals who put themselves and their lives first to protect, serve and defend the individuals who live domestically.

Logiclast,

How about loggers and fishermen and miners who risk their lives to house us, feed us and heat our homes? Can we honor them too since their career is FAR more dangerous and it is the service of our country, and their pay is far, far, far less? How about teachers? They work so hard to educate our children? How about politicians and snow plow operators? Can we include autoworkers and civil rights activists? Now how about including community organizers? Sorry, you defined it yourself. "SOME" might eat schit and bark at the moon. But MEMORIAL DAY is for the fallen combat soldiers who died FIGHTING IN WAR, not ANYONE ELSE. So stop dividing us now. Thanks.

Well, GB, I simply quoted a website on how the holiday / memorial effort was established and stating an opinion proferred by some especially after 11 September 2001 when many firefighters, police officers and emergency medical technicians were injured or killed in these attacks.

... As usual GB is not correct.  Fighting in War???  NOT ANYONE ELSE???
Memorial day also commemorates those who lost their lives driving a fork truck in a Navy warehouse that was hit by enemy fire... or by friendly fire.  They weren't "FIGHTING"  and they weren't "COMBAT SOLDIERS", but their effort was often just as essential as GB's 'combat soldiers'.
Memorial day also honors those who DID NOT FIGHT in War, like medics, corpsmen and Chaplin... but I guess GB ignores their sacrifice.
The day commemorates all those who serve our country and lost their lives in an act of war... Sept 11 attacks on NYC WAS AN ACT OF WAR... those first responders gave their lives serving their country in a war.

LogicFirst and the rest of us can commemorate the day as we see fit, and we don't need GB's 'Patriotism Rules' to recognize valor.

Then glorify the ones killed another way. Don't make the live ones equivalent with the dead soldiers who died on foreign battlefields or in our own wars on American soil. It is THEIR DAY. The only one they get!!!!! You will not take it from them no matter how many proxies you hold!!!!

Until you change the holiday in the hearts and minds of countryman and in the halls of Congress, don't reinvent it to serve your own purpose, or to gain higher wages and benefits, or to further elevate the sense that certain professions can break the laws all they want and have little or no consequence. There is simply no equivalence. This constant elevation to demigod status and making all uniforms worthy of the same level of respect smacks of revisionism and statism. Do postal workers in uniform get to hone in on it too? How about TSA personnel? Be real.

There were many heroes in and out of uniform on 9/11. But making "first responders" the subject of "Memorial Day" cheapens the intent when already half of Americans have no idea WHY we pause to remember the fallen. And that is because of politicians eager to suck up (RON and his like) who confuse the purpose in the minds of people as to WHY we pause. The fallen are WHY we pause. Not those killed in the line of duty here in America on 9/11 and certainly not those simply wear the uniform of a first responder.

Interestingly,  the National Memorial Day Service from the Mall in Washington, DC  honored BOTH the military men and women  who died serving our country   AND the men and women first responders who have died in the line of duty.   There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG with honoring both   .. and I do honor both.

It is obvious from the offensive comments posted above that NONE of the above lost family members - who died in the line of duty while serving as first responders.  I have and I make NO APOLOGY for honoring that cherished member of my family lost in the line of duty 51 years ago and ALL first responders who have died in the line of duty.

WAIT, I thought liberals believe it was a criminal event and that the perpetrators need to be read their rights and tried in a court of law? Care to provide clarity on your change of heart?
