Brad -- Thank you for keeping us informed!    And it is so apropos that one of last year's NNTP candidates has announced that Rotterdam residents WILL NOT allow a new taxing district.   I always said that you guys were just a year too early...the voters weren't quite ready for NNTP yet.  They are finally starting to get it!

clubhouse,

You and the residents of Rotterdam and Schenectady County will have another opportunity this fall
to elect representatives who share your experiences and your concerns.

Congratulations are in order to Kelly Rhinesmith who campaigned diligently in opposition to the creation of the ambulance
tax district.  Consistent with her conservative ideals, she espoused private sector solutions over the increase in the size
and cost of government.  Kelly has been involved with this issue for many years and has been a reliable source of
information to town residents including those who participate in this forum.

Kelly did a good job of keeping us informed with what was happening with the Tax District issue that the town board wasn't telling us about.

DV is going to demand a recount.

The big socialist - increase the taxes on everyone - that is DV.....for certain, he won't be on this topic tonight.   He is SO VERY VERY VERY EMBARRASSED....  He ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY CANNOT admit that people cannot afford more taxes.

DV, go move to some socialist country where everything is owned by the govenment and the government rules you....you should be very happy

Poor REMS, they still don't know the count - or won't admit it:

I hope this is a smart result.  I can only say that I don't live in Town anymore but I come back for work.  Last Spring, Mohawk ambulance couldn't find my sister's house and my brother-in-law aged 38 died from a heart attack leaving her a 34 yr old widow having her first baby alone. This may not have been a good vote for Rotterdam residents.  I think you have made a mistake.

I think that rems should know that this vote in rotterdam was not personal. Beside the fact that the rotterdamians just don't want another tax, there was also some questionable baggage that was associated with rems. I don't think that there was ever any doubt that these rems guys and girls were dedicated to their job. But people just can't vote on one issue. ALL issues need to be taken into consideration.

Perhaps rems can continue on. Start small and grow into a lucrative business. Stop soft billing and go for the gusto. Enjoy the fruits of capitalism.

Now comes the fun part........WHO at rotterdam town hall will be writing and reviewing and approving the contract with mohawk? Rotterdamians best watch over your elected officials and make sure they dot every 'i' and cross every 't'! IMHO

Alley if you want to keep REMS as an ambulance provider for Rotterdam then figure out how they can operate like a real business, make a profit, put money away for new equipment, and pay their bills without needing taxpayer money to do it.

Was there anything unusual in this situation? New road? Clearly marked house? Who gave them the address - you or the dispatcher?

I know the situation you're talking about, and yes - it was tragic, without a doubt. But I don't believe for a minute that REMS would have gotten there any faster, and I sincerely doubt they would have been able to provide any better support (remember, they're BLS only) than the ALS with Mohawk.

Great job by KR and a great turnout by property owners. Even Paul V predicted this would pass on Talk 1300.

A resounding NO! to a new taxing district. Hopefully, the socialists on the County library bored will take notice. An important message was sent.

You are correct. Rems has the same opportunities as any other private service. Perhaps the first thing they can do is find out where that ALS $$$$ went.

I know that duanesburg supports rems.. ....perhaps they can contract them. Their name could then be changed to DEMS.
