Anyone else see the District #2 red extended cab pickup going around putting up signs for REMS?

What do the town zoning ordinances say regarding sign placement?  This is not election season.  The signs
that are being erected are not of a political nature, promoting a candidate for public office.  These are more
akin to signs promoting a business.

I am assuming that the same rules apply for referendums as applies for primaries and general elections.
Signs can go up 30 days before primaries and general elections -- and the signs started going up on t
November 14 -- 30 days before the referendum.
It is also my understanding that the funds for the signs were raised separately -- so that REMS is not using
its operational funds to pay for the sign.

Whose paying for the gas and truck maintenance that's helping to deliver these signs with the District #2 Fire Department logo displayed on the doors of the cab?

Why would you assume that?  The same rules of a general election don't apply to this goofy referendum.  There are no absentee ballots, only one polling location, and it is limited to property owners.

Banana Republic!

That doesn't answer my question.  Without stating who paid for the sign expense, we have no evidence that they
weren't purchased using public funds.  While I appreciate that you offered to this forum your understanding, I
believe that things are being handled without transparency and with a suspicious level of secrecy.

And now we're hearing that a fire department vehicle is being used to transport signs as they are being placed?

I got a quick look at the truck and it looked like a crew cab pickup with the District #2 logo on the doors. Next time I see the vehicle I'll get the number off the side of it.

And this, my friends, is what a separate taxing district does because they are an entity separate from Town government and they decide how to apply their resources however they please.  This same sort of behavior can be expected if the Ambulance Tax district is passed.

For those trying to provoke a response from us about Mertz, I can tell you that he was hounding the town comptroller constantly about REMS and what they owed the town and when.  Depending on what side you are on, Mertz was either your hero or an a$%hole.  If he didn't oppose the tax district, it would have been created by the Tommasone administration without a vote. With the exception of Mertz, they were all in on it, just look after Tommasone lost REMS hired Parisi!  Mertz always seemed fair on this issue, supporting REMS but forced them to get their act together. I can tell you that every week he would ask if REMS had paid their gas bill to the town, he said if they can't pay their gas bill then something else is going on, then we found out the IRS issue.  Mertz is out of office because of this issue.

I believe that all rotterdamians desire a well financed, well run, ethical ambulance als/bls service. I'm sure that most rotteramians are not aware of the historical black eyes that rems and rotterdam's politics brings to the table.

I'm sure that rotterdamians would not pay for any service that can not pay their bills. If REMS was a private business as Mohawk is, and both were bidding for a town contract............a solid business like mohawk would get the contract.........hands down.

But then again we're talking about rotterdam!

And it's too bad that Mertzie got the boot for doing what he thought was in the taxpayer's best interest.

Mertzie for rep county chair..........seriously! IMHO
