Unfortunately, anyone can be a county leg. ANY BRAINLESS WONDER! You can just sit there and do NOTHING! Not do a thing to help the district you represent. I mean hey....Dago is a great example of that. When was the last time ANY of our county reps attended a rotterdam, princetown or duanesburg town meeting on a regular base?

It's an election year....they will be all over these towns like flies on sh*t! And after november....never to be seen or heard from again!

ROTTERDAM
Challengers have a new home
Woestina Park’s 3 baseball fields OK’d for use by state Canal Corp.

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter
Reach Gazette reporter Justin Mason at 395-3113 or jmason@dailygazette.net

After more than two decades, Richard Dickershaid finally has a permanent home for the Rotterdam Challengers.
Starting next spring, the baseball league for the developmentally disabled will start playing games at Woestina Park in Rotterdam Junction. The arrangement comes under the auspices of the state Canal Corp., which owns the property off Route 5S.
"We've waited 20 years for this,” said an ecstatic Dickershaid, one of the original founders of the Challenger league, after learning of the arrangement Monday.
The Challengers were playing on a pair of private fields near Five Corners. But Dickershaid and town officials feared the league might one day lose the fields to development pressures and wanted to find a more permanent home for the Challengers.
Supervisor Steve Tommasone said Woestina Park's three fields, which are also used by the Rotterdam Little League, have enough space to accommodate both organizations. Eventually, he said the town would like to improve the land. .....................................>>>>...................>>>>..................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01002&AppName=1

Let Rotterdam Challengers use Woestina Park fields

There’s special group of young people in Rotterdam close to all our hearts. They deserve recognition and assistance.
Richard Dickershaid’s Rotterdam Challengers is a sports league for kids with special needs. This great organization lets these kids have their own sport. On their opening day next May, you will see the joy on their faces as they are able to get out on their own field, some in wheelchairs and braces, to participate like their brothers, sisters and pals in baseball.
Thankfully, the generosity of countless great organizations, businesses and individuals has allowed them to thrive, but they’ve never had a field to call their own. They’ve paid to lease private property behind Five Corners.
That is about to change. Recently, Rotterdam Little League notified Rotterdam that it will no longer use the fields at the Woestina Park in Rotterdam Junction. Supervisor Steve Tommasone and myself, with the support of many other officials, know this would be the perfect home for the Challengers — one that couldn’t be taken away or lost to development.
The town is committed to making the park a permanent home for them, and the Challengers agree. It’s time to do this and prevent them from losing their fields like the Little League that sadly lost its privately owned fields once. Solve a problem before it becomes one. The town and Challengers agree that the fields will remain open to all the community — no child will be locked out.
To the Rotterdam Challengers: The community’s best wishes go out to you. May you enjoy many decades of ball games at your new home. Everyone is behind you all the way!

HOW is it a bad thing???

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Where's County "leader" Judy DAG on this Little League issue? I heard she had alot of experience with running a Little League-lol.

Thank you Joe S for doing what these County DEM "leaders" refused to do-for our kids.

Not saying it's a bad thing....I just question the timing. Like I said....it's an election year.

Hope Suhrada doesn't wear his "doc martins" on opening day at the field.  This was just a pre-election ploy with little regard for those children who should have had a field a LONG time ago.  Rotterdam can't thank Dickershaid enough for all he has done.

No self respecting CONS wears Doc Martin's. It seems like others are hogging credit for something the State Canal Corp made happen. Instead of protecting the 5 Corners fields the town threw them over to the State.

What next a press release from Judy DAG detailing her involvement in this matter? lol.You no vote for 2 DAGS?

I think that the persona that is Salvatore is, a jerk.  However, whoever is behind that persona is a fool - if he thinks he's doing good for either party.

Personally, I think the Salvatore persona was invented to be a republican plant ... bring out the stupid in people. I think whoever it is failed, miserably, and is doing no good for either side at this point.

first the repubs took the kids fields at there club now they held the crippled kids fields way to long . but the sneaky way they did it by stealing them from the other kids stinks . they should have gotten the land donated from somewhere instead of a sneaky move by stevie EGO . shows the kids what true bruta bastas they are and now dickershad knows they are no good to. The poor kids look what the repubs are doing to them WAKE UP PEOPLE GET RID OF THOSE CROOKS NOW the state did this and the town had nothing to do with it and surad and ego hate the kids any way.
