It would take a HUGE miracle for P&C Supermarkets to open ANY store, ANY where -- let alone in the Curry Road Shopping Center.   Penn Traffic the parent company of P&C filed bankruptcy in 2010 and has ceased all operations.

Apartments above, and Price Chopper below

The gallery below contains a few images — renderings and a photo taken Friday — of the Market Center building now rising in downtown Saratoga Springs.

The building, developed by Bonacio Construction in partnership with the Galesi Group in Rotterdam, will contain the region’s first urban-model grocery store, a 20,000-square-foot Price Chopper built below five floors of apartments. Safe to say that officials in Troy, Schenectady and Albany would love to see a similar project in their downtowns.

Neil Golub, head of Schenectady-based Golub Corp., which owns Price Chopper, today described the store as an experiment, or pilot, the supermarket chain might repeat — if it succeeds financially. The store, expected to open early next summer, will be similar to other Price Choppers, although significantly smaller and a bit more geared to shopper’s arriving on foot.

“This is not going to be a gourmet store,” Golub said. “If we were high-end, we would only serve a fraction of the population.”

The apartments, meanwhile, will be pretty upscale, with monthly rents for one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments ranging from $1,360 to well above $2,000. Half of the 124 units in the Olsen Associates-designed building are already leased. (Renderings provided by Bonacio Construction)

anyone see this?

No different the the beastly property at the old Grand Union, the weeds are beginning to look like dwarf trees.

speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

The fact of the matter is..........price chopper already has enough competition.....THEY ALL DO!!
What controls the success of ANY business.....is their customer base. Price chopper isn't the only 'kid on the block' anymore.
don't matter much to me what goes there.....i just marvel at the little forest growing up thru the concrete!!!
kinda reminds ya of the pictures of the now bankrupt Detroit.

Agree!!! And you can add the beastly 4 corners property owned by cvs.
ROTTENdam will 'attempt' to go after the 'residence' for their lack of upkeep of their properties.....but these properties owned by businesses/developers/friends and family, get a pass.

More likely this is what Galesi has planned for Nott St.

College apartments with a Price Chopper built in.

The old bowling alley on Hamburg St has been spruced up real nice.

Nice lawn and lots of trees planted. It looks like a small park.

Golub just might deliver groceries for free to these apartments they are planning.

It just might be part of their new expansion into the walk-in traffic market.

The rebirth of mini choppers.

The planning and zoning board staff must be having heart issues over such plans

Maybe this will be the last nail on the coffin and some of the the members who smell of death will step down
