Am I the only one who thinks that selling 12 acres in the middle of Rotterdam, for about the same price as two or three homes, is practically a giveaway?

What the nayboobs/constant critics fail to understand is that everything has been done according to the letter of the law - a Request For Proposal was sent out, bids were received and the town has a legal obligation to go with the highest responsible bidder. The highest bidder pulled out after they could not secure the adjoining properties necessary for their project. Thus the town has to go the next highest bidder of those projects for which bids were received.
The nayboobs/constant critics also refuse to recognize that the property has been an eyesore for 25 years and off the tax rolls for about the last 10 years. While some would rather sit on their hands and wait for some fantastical better project to come forward, the fact is that we have waited too long to take any action and at least this project is a REAL ONE and not some wishful fantasy of what might be. Getting the site cleaned up, redeveloped and back on the tax rolls will greatly benefit the town and most importantly its taxpayers.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

What you are describing is the Metroplex theory.
It has been proven to do nothing but crush the taxpayers.

Developers to present Curry Road plan October 10, 2012 at 1:13 pm by Eric Anderson Comments(1) | E-mail | Print
Plans for a redevelopment of the Curry Road Plaza in Rotterdam will be presented tonight to the Rotterdam Town Board, which is expected to approve them by Oct. 24.
Forum Industries of Clifton Park and Whitney Capital Company of Lake Success have been selected to redevelop the abandoned shopping center and will demolish two existing buildings and replace them with two retail buildings and two three-story buildings that will include 180 senior apartments, a business center, gym, outdoor patio and other amenities.
The Forum-Whitney group will pay Rotterdam $375,000 for the property. The project is expected to cost a total of $20 million.
About 2.5 acres of the 12-acre site will be preserved as a nature area with trails, while another quarter acre will be donated to Rotterdam Fire District #2 for future expansion.
Forum Industries, headed by President and CEO Andrew Sciocchetti, recently completed a 70-unit affordable senior housing project, Meadow View Senior Apartments, in Clifton Park and is developing two other senior housing sites. Whitney Capital’s management affiliate, Whitney Management Corp., managers several senior housing developments statewide, including Westview Apartments in Saratoga Springs.
