Don't be fooled here. They already know who is going to bid/purchase this piece of 'prime' rotterdam property. It shouldn't be a surprise that this is just a formality.
Remember...........METROPLEX/GILLEN is in the mix in rotterdam now!!! Perhaps the names BBL or perhaps even High Bridge will be mentioned.....no?
Hang on to your wallets rotterdamians!!!

Yep.
The property will be turned over to the authority and another tax exemption corporate welfare sucking entity will develop it.
this is the county democrap rope-a-dope. they do it over and over. Part of their playbook where they game the stooge public and the stooge public laps it up.
"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
Hey, guess what, there's evidence that it is possible to clean up a site that used to be a dry cleaners and move forward with demolition and getting something done... Sadly, the news comes from Albany where a dry cleaner was recently closed, not Rotterdam that's been sitting on a mall with this as one of the issues over 25 years...

ALBANY — City officials have declared an abandoned Washington Avenue dry cleaner a threat to public safety and begun the process to demolish it, a code enforcement official said.
Jeffery Jamison, director of the city's Division of Buildings and Regulatory Compliance, said the demolition of 566 Washington Ave. is expected to begin Thursday and proceed in several phases that will allow state environmental officials to clean contamination found at the site.
Jamison said the city was working with the state Department of Environmental Conservation to ensure the work can be done safely.
The development comes as County Executive Dan McCoy planned a press conference at the vacant building Thursday afternoon to provide an update on the county's efforts to probe potential chemical contamination in drums found submerged in the building's water-filled basement.
DEC environmental engineers began preliminary testing there in April.
The building is located across Ontario Street from Beverwyck Park and a half-block from Albany High School. It was gutted by fire in 2000.
Editor's note... In case you didn't figure it out, 2000 is just a LITTLE more recent than 1987.
Plaza plans sought Rotterdam looks to redevelop long-standing town ‘eyesore’ By John Purcell As of Thursday, June 21, 2012 -3:55 p.m.
#ROTTERDAM — The blighted Curry Road Plaza in Rotterdam could become vibrant again if the town’s call for development yields positive results.
#The Rotterdam Town Board on Wednesday, June 13, unanimously approved issuing a Request for Proposals for the 12-acre site at the center of town, which town officials have targeted for redevelopment for almost five years. The site has remained largely vacant since Kmart pulled out more than two decades ago.
#Town Supervisor Harry Buffardi said the plaza has been an “eyesore in Rotterdam for many years” and he is happy to see the process moving forward.
#Responses to the RFP are due at Rotterdam Town Hall by 2 p.m. on Friday, July 13. Developers would be required to demolish existing structures on site before redeveloping the property.
#“We didn’t want someone to buy this site and continue to leave it there in a similarly unsightly way for the last 25 years,” Buffardi said.
#Typically, an RFP is pursued to seek the lowest bid for a project, service or purchase. For the plaza, town officials want bids to come in higher rather than lower.
#The price offered for the site won’t be the sole determination in awarding a contract. Town officials will also consider the overall positive impact of a proposed usage in regards to jobs, investment and creating a new tax base..............................................>>>>......................>>>>.........................http://www.schenectadyspotlight.com/news/2012/jun/21/plaza-plans-sought/

I wonder why the people who have owned the land for the past 25 years haven't had to demolish anything on the property. You would think it would make it more of a plus for potential buyers.
RFP's are due by 7/13. When will we find out what / who is buying and what will happen with the land? I'm sure that those all over town, and especially those who pay Mohonasen school taxes would be very interested to find out what's going to happen.

Didn't Golub own the property at one point? If so, it explains a lot. Rumor has it that Golub just sat on the property as Hannaford wanted to build a store there to sandwich the Altamont ave Price chopper between two of their stores.

Yes, until the turned it over, essentially, to the town after K-Mart closed 25 years ago (I don't know the exact date it was turned over). That way, they didn't have to pay taxes on it anymore. There also was a stipulation, as far as I understand, that the town could do anything they wanted with the property as long as it didn't bring in a competitor to Price Chopper. If they acted quickly years ago, this could have been an easy deal, such as someone like a Wal-Mart going there (this was prior to the Wal-Mart on Altamont Ave opening, I believe). Now, with all of the clothing stores like Wal-Mart expanding their lines, as well as Price Chopper expanding theirs, it's going to make it much more difficult to get ANY type of retail in there. I'm sure that it could be said that a card store such as Hallmark, which was previously on the property, couldn't move in now, since Price Chopper now sells cards and balloons and such.
Rotterdam will die a slow death the longer we continue to give in to Golub Corporation and Price Chopper. I mean really, they enjoy it so much here, they moved their highest paying jobs right out of town, thanks to a deal from the Metroplex, which Neil Golub just happens to sit on the board of. Conflict of interests? I think so.
they had a plan but got rid of the company b/c the republicans got them and they wanted galesi to do it

then calder tipped his hand..... since they already know who is getting the project
EXACTLY!!!!!! It's a play right out of the liberal socialist's play book!!!
