ANOTHER STUDY!! Oh my! How much money does the RIDA have to spend? They are already paying the plex a couple of grand a month for their services. And I believe that is just for administrative fees. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Who conducts the environmental impact study for the County and Metroplex? That $9168 of our money doesn't get bid out to the lowest bidder. I'm sure County democrats need to grease some of their contributors before we move forward with this project. More money well spent.
Board members last week approved a $4,500 allocation hiring the Poughkeepsie-based Chazen Companies to prepare a request for proposal to develop the 11-acre property donated by the Golub Corporation in 2003. Supervisor Steven Tommasone said the study should help guide future economic development of a plaza that has remained largely dormant since 1980.
Angelo's employer only received $4500 of our money. Gee, looks like the Democrats had to double that.
It's a bottomless pit - till all the taxpayers move out of Schdy anyway
It's a welfare state. And once the system collapses.....we will ALL be getting handouts from the government. Could this have been the plan all along? Perhaps?

Redevelopment of former plaza moves step closer BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter
Don’s Laundry hasn’t done any dry cleaning at the Curry Road Shopping Center in decades, but the chemical contamination left by the business has been a persistent obstacle in redeveloping the dilapidated plaza. More than 120 tons of soil was ROTTERDAM excavated at the laundry and treated on site in 1991, according to state Department of Environmental Conservation records. Shallow groundwater was pumped to the surface and treated from 1994 until 1999, when tests showed a signifi cant drop in contaminants. Still, testing in 2004 showed the building that once contained Don’s Laundry continued to have contamination. Samples from the Trustco Bank in the building detected solvent vapors beneath its slab foundation, even though there were no significant readings from inside the structure. This month, DEC offi cials fi nally issued a so-called closure letter for the site cleanup, indicating that it be used for commercial purposes only and that the use of the groundwater be prohibited. The closure letter certifies that enough cleanup has occurred at the site — only a fraction of the total 12-acre plaza — for redevelopment to move forward. Ray Gillen, chairman of Schenectady County’s Metroplex Development Authority, called the closure letter “an extremely signifi - cant milestone” toward revitalizing the property that has been a blight for nearly two decades. He said the closure letter will allow the Golub Corporation to finally divest itself of the remaining part of the property it owns so that the site can be marketed fro development. “It’s a pivotal moment in that all of this process has been deemed completed,” he said. But with every step forward in the process to redevelop the shopping center, there’s seemingly another one backward. This time, it’s the ownership of the plaza’s largest parcel that is stymieing efforts to finally topple the blighted plaza. The property is technically owned by the Rotterdam Industrial Development Agency, which is administered by Metroplex. Only in December, the state Authorities Budget Office advised Metroplex that the Rotterdam IDA had no legal authority to continue operations because it no longer carried any debt. “The problem is, this handcuff has been put on the project by the [budget office ],” he said. Gillen said officials from the town and Rotterdam IDA are now trying to determine the best way to dissolve the agency and disperse its assets. He said a draft resolution has been submitted to the Town Board proposing to transfer the property back to Rotterdam. Gillen said the town could then decide whether to request bids for a redevelopment project or transfer it to another agency legally capable of negotiating with a developer. .......................>>>>..................>>>>..................http://www.dailygazette.net/st.....p;Section=Local_News

“I’m definitely eager to move forward,” he said Thursday. “If anything, I’m more eager than ever.” Sciocchetti said the last crucial step now is to determine what entity will take ownership of the plaza. Once that’s determined, he said he’s ready to close on the property and start demolition immediately afterward. “Everything is in place,” he said.

Rotterdam seeking bidders for Curry Road Plaza redevelopment The Business Review Date: Wednesday, June 13, 2012, 11:54am EDT - Last Modified: Wednesday, June 13, 2012, 1:02pm EDT
The town of Rotterdam and Schenectady County will issue a request for proposals to acquire and redevelop Curry Road Plaza. Responses are due by 2 p.m. on July 13.
No minimum bid price on the property has been set. The town will evaluate the RFP’s based on the price offered and the number of jobs, investment and new tax base that will be created. Buildings on the 12-acre site will have to be demolished.
The rest of the site is available for commercial or residential development
I thought as part of the passing of deed to the Town there were restrictions preventing development of competing businesses of Price Chopper (i.e. drug store/grocery store/etc.)
JUST BECAUSE SISSY SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO...BUT HE THINKS IT DOES!!!!! JUST BECAUSE MC1 SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO!!!!!

That was my understanding also. I think we need a look at that agreement.
Judging by the speed at which past projects have moved in Rotterdam I wouldn't expect anything to be built there for at least 10 years. There should be at least 20-30 studies done before any project is approved.
This goes to show you how astute the REGIME is.......build the Police Station there....and be done with it....
volunteers.....let the REGIME pay for it or the people they gave jobs too.....how about the dire straits formula ....have a fundraiser.....that would work...
